Loving Mama Dog Spends Three Years in Shelter Heartbroken and Alone While Waiting for a Family

Kanza K.

Kylie is a dog that understands the agony of anticipation Her shelter stay is going on three years and she would love nothing more than a home where she can show her true personality.

There, amidst her innumerous disappointments, she continues to dare to dream of love and be with someone.

Once upon a time Kylie was leading a happy life on a farm. As long as things were ok with the pregnancy, she was going to be a part of another family.

Her victimsndnight fell on hard times and couldn’t provide the needed care to her for a cesarean. Therefore, they made the difficult choice to turn her over to the Spokane Humane Society in Washington.

Although Kylie’s puppies were fit and adopted shortly thereafter, Kylie was not. She was confused and heartbroken, wondering why nobody came to rescue her.

A New Hope

To boost her adoption chances, Kylie was sent to the Benton-Franklin Humane Society in Kennewick, Washington.

She connected with Julie, who was a devoted volunteer.

We will just sit in the kennel together and she will cuddle with me. Julie said, “She enjoys having pets. “She has a difficult time with it because she’s not getting as much people time as she’d like.”

Kylie passed most days waiting in her kennel, even with Julie constantly caring for her. She was kept in a cage for 22 hours a day but perked up whenever staff and volunteers came over to her.

A Joyful Spirit

As soon as someone approaches, Kylie runs toward them with a toy stuck in her mouth and tail wagging. This sweet girl just wants to run, play and be loved.

Julie frequently brings Kylies little surprises, new toys that arguably brighten her day. Julie said: “She’s so excited, otherwise they’re in their kennels 22 hours a day normally.”

Even after her lengthy wait, Kylie loves people. She is a joy, and it is hard not to smile when you see how she brightens when she sees familiar faces.

Unfortunately, Kylie loves people but hates other animals so that is why it is hard to find her forever home.

Julie said: “I think that is 90 per cent why she hasn’t been taken as I guess most animal lovers have a dog or a cat.

Kylie has spent many years in the shelter changing her temperament, now she likes humans more than animals.

Due to her natural affection, the dog was jubilated when Julie showed Kylieoff to her nieces.

Hope for the Future

Despite issues like this, staff members at the shelter are hopeful Kylie will find her perfect forever family.

They still take care of her, waiting for someone to notice that she has love to give.

“It’s a massive pet overpopulation issue,” Julie said, making finding Kylie an adopter or foster complicated.

Kylie has been biding her time for three years. She has a lot of love, and she just needs someone that will roll the dice for her.

The Dream of Home

Today Kylies story is one of resilience and hope. And she is hoping for that unique family who will appreciate her as merited.

With time, we can only wait until Kylie soon finds her happy ever after and finally knows what it feels like to be someone’s cherished fur kid.

Meanwhile, she continues to wait with faith in her heart and happiness in her life.

There has also been a lot of support for Kylie within the community around Benton-Franklin Humane Society. She is not alone, and local events have been held to raise awareness about adoptable pets like her.

Kylie’s story has been shared and posted around social media in the hope of finding someone who will give her the forever home she needs.

Every bit helps; even small gestures that volunteers can pick up Kylie’s days are brightened. They come by with snacks and toys for her to play with on the regular, too.

Every day a little more promise that Kylie is meant to be viewed and received as the treasure she is by someone on the other side of a phone or computer who will ultimately make their home hers.

And the rest of us watching Kylie’s journey are just hoping that it won’t be too long before a beautiful home will take her in — out of the shelter and into a loving environment where she can flourish.
