Definitely not all heroes wear capes! Some wear a smile only, Harley!
When need called, this hero Goldendoodle in Virginia answered and made headlines throughout the world!
The six-year-old dog was swimming about 200 feet offshore, paddling with some mysterious creature for what had to be the most altruistic reason ever, when his owner Ralph Dorn spotted him.
A couple of seconds after that, Ralph noticed Harley was not just taking a stroll through the pool — he was undertaking a rescue!
Ralph Dorn of Virginia knew his Goldendoodle, Harley wasn’t just your average run-of-the-mill dog. Always the good boi, very intuitive and exceptionally smart.
But Harley gave his hooman one last shock when he sprinted into action to save a baby deer from drowning
It looked like Harley must have spotted the fawn in the water and jumped into action, Ralph says.
When he sighted the baby deer struggling to climb out of the water — he sprung into action! He never hesitated; he never even asked why — he simply swam to the baby, who was then roughly 200 feet from shore.
Their Paddling With His Friend Until They Reached Safety
It was no walk in the park helping the fawn that was just three days old! The poor little tyke had no idea how to make it to shore, so Harley had to walk her all the way in. And yet, there was Harley – swimming like a champion and rounding up his latest playmate to the beach!
Ralph says, “Each time the fawn turned away, Harley would round it back to the shore, and they got closer each time.
If it weren’t for Harley, though – that baby probably would not have lived! Fortunately, this boi managed to drag the fawn back to dry land and once ashore, he first provided it with some shivering-reducing licks.
He simply wanted to ensure the baby was okay and he had no intention of departing with it!
But just minutes after the rescue, the fawn’s mother arrived on the lawn. Ralph’s immediate reaction when he saw her was to take Harley into their house and ensure that the baby and mum were safely reunited.
Then, a Beautiful Bond Was Created
That was that, or so Ralph thought until the next morning when Harley blew his mind even further! He was having coffee with his spouse, Patricia, when this Golden boy came up to them and decided to run from window to window.
Ralph could tell he wanted to go out but it was unclear why. Then he walked out to the front door, opened it up — and released Harley! The cutest thing you have ever seen!!
You see, Harley heard the baby deer calling nearby — the very same baby deer that he rescued from the lake 24 hours prior! He dashed to this baby, and the second that they were together, the fawn stopped crying.
There were a couple of adorable moments where they sniffed one another and wagged their tails together — that pretty much was the extent of it! Once a time for their meeting had ended, Harley got back in the house, all happy seeing his little friend!
Would it be a surprise that Harley has this talent and intuition for which he is very well know at helping people? And before his heroic rescue, he was a certification therapy dog for the elderly and children in his local area!
He has always been an almost flawless boi, instantly responding to the call of duty whenever there was something that needed doing. That is just who he is, the pawfect Goldendoodle!
