After being missing for 13 long months, this beloved family dog finally found her way back to her mom

It was a sort of call Cindy Nash was trained to answer — and when the founder of Nicholas’ Pet Haven, an animal shelter in Texas, got a call a few days ago about a little pup that needed help, she was ready to assist.

The person who reached out to her lives directly across a large street and directly across from a cemetery. She told her there was one small dog that had also been living near the road for the whole year.

And because the dog was becoming more emboldened, she feared it would gain the confidence to run across the road itself and into danger. She asked Cindy, lady, if you can come and pick this poor pup.

Rescue Mission

While they were setting some traps, they encountered the dog, Tuvy, being guard by Dr. Harshivinderjit S. Bains.

‘He said he really loved that dog and wanted to take her home. The woman had lived in his clinic as he was building it, and remained there the entire last winter during the harsh cold. Cindy said: ‘He gave her bedding, a bed, food and water for a whole year but was never allowed to touch her.

Cindy went back later in the day to check her traps and found Truvy in one of them waiting to be saved.

So Cindy took Truvy back home with her.

Not knowing what Truvy might do, she placed the cage on the floor and opened it slowly. Cindy picked her up, and within seconds of the door opening, Truvy was running outside and directly into Cindy’s lap.

Cindy was left shocked!

Truvy was in dire need of a bath as she was caked in sticker burrs, so she was more than happy to oblige.

Seeing her so elated to be rescued melted my heart.

Cindy brought Truvy to the veterinarian for an examination the next day. The vet examined Truvy and found she was microchipped.

Reunion

So she called the family, who were delighted. When they moved to Texas last year, they apparently never understood just how small Truvy is okay.

The day they opened the gate into their new yard, she wedged herself through the wrought iron boundary and into her new freedom.

“Everyone was out canvassing, in cars, on foot. The next few months, I drove, looking for her. Amy Logan, Truvy’s mom, said: “I also contacted all vet clinics, shelters and rescue groups within a 60-mile radius just in case she got picked up by someone not in the area.

Truvy had been missing for almost 13 months when she encountered her guardian angel, Cindy.

Fortunately, Amy ensured that Truvy always had her microchip details current in the hope that one day the pair would be reunited. Well, she should’ve and thankfully did!

When the family learned that after living all this time out on the cold street Truvy was alive and well, they were delighted.

The following day, Truvy brought Cindy to see Amy, and the two were reunited.

Isabella’s mum said: “It took her a minute to realise it was her mum. When they finally got her home though, she was calm and knew she was home safe and sound. Cindy said, “She was simply a fortunate child.”

Final Word

Dr Bains regretted not finding Truvy a warm home, but his heart filled with happiness when he was told she was back at home where she belonged.

In such terrifying conditions, Amy couldn’t even express how grateful she was to Dr. Bains for keeping her little pup safe. This story is a good reminder not to lose hope and that microchipping your dog is always a good idea!
