So many dogs never even get a shot at a fight. Many of these fluffy friends end up being thrown onto the street due to irresponsible breeding, and they often don’t survive.
A specific example is located in California, where a backyard breeder had tossed puppies away after getting rid of them.
However, things changed when a woman received a call about a puppy that could not have been more than 3 days old. This whole litter was literally hanging on for dear life and needed help — ASAP!
Survival Since Day 1
Enter giant-hearted, big-hearted, fun-loving animal lover, California-based independent rescuer, Clanay Reza, who received a call from a neighbour of a breeder asking for help with his dogs.
There was an entire litter of pups living under their dead mom at the time, who had bled to death. Of them, Lucky was the weakest. He was the size of a baby hamster.
Decimated his chance of survival to none, but Reza never gave up on him. For his first couple of days, she literally fed him every twenty minutes (formula, of course) to the point where she barely got any sleep.
I never knew if tomorrow would be guaranteed for him. I think I slept on and off maybe 4 hours a night for Lucky first 8 weeks. Clanay wrote on Instagram: “I would watch him up to the morning, just making sure he was still alive and breathing.
Unfortunately, Lucky had lost the rest of his siblings, and now he was the only one who had a chance to fight.
Lots Of Sleepless Nights
Lucky still had a number of issues, but he proved to be a fighter, and after weeks of fighting for his life, he was in no more imminent danger. He developed yeast infection and corneal ulcer when his eyes began to open, ending up with one eye removed.
It turned out he was blind out of one eye and had a perforated eyeball and a corneal ulcer. Clancy says, “As he matured, the ulcer and puncture became larger and more painful for him, so at 4 months of age, we took out his eye.

Lucky was diagnosed with a condition known as albinism when he was ten weeks old. His mother said he was an albino because of a recessive gene due to inbreeding.
His life in that first year was all struggle. He lost his siblings and his mom. He had many bumps in the road, but he NEVER EVER lost his WILL to live!
His first year has been a bit of a ride which I think is an understatement, but I am in such gratitude for the speed bumps we had with him. Clanay wrote: “They literally just made me love him more.
