That’s precisely what happened to Nadya, a woman who stumbled upon a sweet dog named Camilo on a beach.
An Instant Connection
Nadya was immediately drawn to Camilo’s trusting nature, and she knew she wanted to help him.

“I could tell he was very tired and come to find out how sick he was, it made a lot of sense,” she said in an interview

With her flight plans foiled, Nadya had to think creatively about how to get back home with Camilo by her side.
She headed to New Mexico, where a friend picked her up and drove her to Kansas.
The long drive was worth it, as Camilo was thrilled to be with his new mom and spent every minute exploring his new surroundings with excitement and tail wags.

“He went from not knowing how to play with a toy to now having his own bucket of toys, and he has his favorites, and he knows how to be playful, and he knows how to just be a dog.”
