When an inhabitant of a Detroit suburb returned home, he saw something moving in the next door house which has been left abandoned.
He went to check it out and found a super cute dog that was sadly chained to the house.
The man rang other people for help, and Rebel Dogs Detroit responded gladly.
So they dispatched one of their volunteers, Tiffany Perkins, to see what was happening, and the moment her eyes connected with the little pooch — then dubbed Beaker — her heart melted.
Beaker was scared and hid behind the garage to wait it out. I began calling his name, and he poked his head out the side. When I approached, he began to wag his tail. He then leaned the bulk of his weight against us for a scratch — and appeared noticeably relieved. He was bouncing with excitement and meeped like a muppet so we named him Beaker!’ [images1] said Tiffany.
Having been tied away alone for so long, Beaker was understandably a little spooked by the hooman who came to him.
However, it took him only a few minutes to see Tiffany was bringing him good fortune!
Tiffany wasted no time getting him unchained from the house and Beaker was ever so thrilled to get to experience freedom as well.
Now, that chain became lodged around Beaker’s neck, causing Tiffany to panic and have him checked over by the vet.
At The Vet
As the vets prepared for surgery, Tiffany took the opportunity to spend even more time with Beaker, giving him all of the love that he had missed out on before – but truly as he deserved.
5+ hours waiting for his surgery gave us plenty of bonding time in the car. I had him napping with his head in my lap not long after that,” Tiffany shared.
So despite everything that this dog had been through, he didn’t allow that to hold him back from enjoying himself or receiving every bit of love he had been showered upon.
Thankfully, the operation went well and Beaker was transferred to a foster home to recover.
Now, Beaker appears to have moved on from his past life and is apparently living his best life in the company of people who love him and continuing to receive adoration showered upon him.
In his foster home, Tifanny writes, “He’s learning what it means to be an indoor dog with love for all — or at least unconditional love for now.”
Beaker is all healed up and ready to find a forever home, ideally with another bouncy dog and plenty of opportunities for long walks and playdates straight out of your best childhood fantasies.
