Dozens and dozens of senior shelter dogs await at the front of their kennel doors, hoping someone notices them, hoping to feel loved again.
It breaks the hearts of the seniors when they continually get passed over for younger residents in shelters.
Dolly, 9 years old Finally — she understands what it feels like to wait in the shelter kennel and be overlooked again and again.
The old doggy was placed into the care of the Humane Rescue Alliance, a D.C.-based shelter after animal control discovered her in the yard of her residence.
Dolly was confused and heartbroken when she lost her previous owners.
This poor girl also needed a family to fix her broken heart but nobody came forward as she was an older dog.

Everything changed when she met a lovely lady called Kim.
The human loving kind soul felt her heart aching when she found out that Dolly was having some problems.
Kim said, “Her shelter notes said she wasn’t willing to leave her kennel because of anxiety and she wouldn’t eat any of her food, my heart broke.
Kim, who had recently lost her beloved dog, Panda and was still grieving felt an instant bond to little Dolly. She filled in the gap with the senior pup, getting her a warm home that all her heart really wanted.
Dolly wondered if it was really time to leave the Washington shelter on her adoption day.
The nervous pooch continuously barked on the ride home. Little did she know, her life would never be the same.
Dolly needed a moment after moving in with her new mom because she was scared.
Her mom was there to comfort the pup, and give her LOTS of love each time she woke up barking, outside shaking in terror through the night.

Living Her Best Life

Her mom was always there to push her, and with each little win, Dolly overcame that fear and grew even more confident.
The mom of the doggo has no doubt that they were meant to cross paths and have a fresh start together.
“I think we were two ships passing in the night. I think we both needed each other,” Kim went on.
Kim posted a video compilation of Dolly to her TikTok account, illustrating the evolution of Dolly from nervous shelter dog to happy pup.
Although now a senior, dolly is as lively as ever. She enjoys doing zoomies in the yard, and she’s a puppy again!
