13 Best Wet Cat Foods Your Cat Will Love

By Nadine Oraby | 2020 Update

Doesn’t this ache your heart?

The sight of your cat puking all the food in front of you!

Is it sick? Maybe!

Does it need a doctor? Maybe!

But perhaps it is not about the cat or its sickness.

But about the food, you’ve been giving to her.

Here are some interesting points about cat food and how it may affect your cat’s health, behavior, mood, and overall life:

  • Some people who believe in clean organic food keep feeding mice and amphibians etc. to their cats – animals that cats usually toy with. Well, first of all, those animals are not mostly to eat but mainly to toy with, secondly, from pesticides to rodenticides, these animals may carry a lot that you would not like to feed to your cat.
  • A lot of people buy dry food off the shelves and feed that to their cats, without knowing that dry food is not suitable for cats.
  • Then there come those who make the right choice: best-wet cat foods, fresh from the shelves, but they do not know which one to buy.

This review of 13 top cat foods will get this thing straight – once and for all.

Without further ado, here’s the review.

1. Instinct Original Grain – Real Chicken Recipe

Check Price on Amazon

  • Made by: Natural Balance – One of the Biggest Pet Food Manufacturers
  • Recipe: Chicken based Patè food
  • Weight & Number of Cans: 24 x 3 oz.
  • Ingredients: 95% Chicken, Turkey & Chicken Liver, 5% Vegetables and Fruits, etc.
  • Nature: Wet & Grain Free
  • Why This: Heavy Protein Diet with a balanced amount of nutrients from veggies and fruits

This food is a very balanced can of food for your little fluffy friend. Why? Because it is full of the main ingredients that a cat enjoys in its wildlife and that a cat should be fed to balance the protein with other nutrients – from sources like veggies and fruits.

What I mean is that while cats don’t usually eat fruits and veggies, they still need those nutrients. Keep them only on protein, and you would see them very soon going from smart to obese to sick.

A cat is everything that a dog is not. It is a carnivore, and genetically, it is linked to predators like lion and tiger and leopards, etc. It needs a hell of a protein every day to stay active and strong, and this can of wet cat food is 95%+ protein.

While it is important to know that it is full of protein – with a pinch of nutrients from fruits and veggies, it is also essential to know as to what Instinct decided not to add. Here’s the list:

  • Grain
  • Potato
  • Corn
  • Wheat
  • Soy
  • Carrageenan
  • By-product meals
  • Artificial or industry processed ingredients including colors and preservatives
  • And ingredients that may turn your cat sensitive to food

What makes this too good is that this cat food is raw inspired. What is raw inspired? It means food inspired from the wildlife eating habits of a cat. Raw eating people are those who believe in eating raw and living a raw (read organic) life. In simple words, being raw is being real.

Instinct feeds your cat the ingredients from raw life – ingredients that she would love to eat and ingredients that are good for her overall well-being.

While some would criticize their decision of making it 95%+ meat and protein, I would say that it is actually much needed because protein helps your furry beast develop strong, lean muscles and a healthy appetite for good food.

The shape and form of this food is Patè – so if you or your cat do not like shredded food, this is the exact type of canned food that you need.

2. Merrick Purrfect Bistro Cowboy Cookout – Morsels in Gravy

Check Price on Amazon

Made by: Merrick

  • Recipe: Morsels in gravy
  • Weight & Number of Cans: 24 x 5.5 oz.
  • Ingredients: Deboned meat, fish and chicken
  • Nature: Wet (Gravy) & Grain Free
  • Why This: Wetter than others because it is morsels with gravy, based on zero bones and all meat = maximum protein

This is definitely not as balanced as Instinct’s can that I’ve reviewed above (although that one is also 95%+ protein), but it is good for your cat because a cat does not eat greens or fruits.

The most important requirement of your feline is lots and lots of protein to keep the lean muscles alive and stay stronger as ever.

Unfortunately, the can do not make a statement about the ingredients of it, so, as explained in facts and features, do remember that it is mostly deboned beef + either fish or chicken.

Deboned meat is essential because bits and pieces of bones can take your cat from vet to morgue. This is one of the major complaints a few customers made about Instinct’s can that I’ve just reviewed.

What does it not include?

  • No grain
  • No wheat
  • No corn
  • No artificial colors
  • No artificial ingredients
  • No artificial flavors, and
  • No preservatives

Apart from this particular can, there are many other recipes from Merrick that you can choose based on what your cat loves to eat or what you want to feed it.

Where we have to give this pack of food an A+ is in terms of how “wet” it is. The texture of this food or the feel of it, is not pâté – like it is in case of Instinct’s can (although that is also wet, but not this much); it is morsels with gravy.

Morsels, as we know, are small chunks of food (natural for your meow to eat), and gravy is the thing that makes the whole deal so easy to chew on and swallow – yummy! Because of gravy, not only your kitty gets wet food, but gravy makes it too yummy to resist.

And this food is 100% deboned – which means that not only your cat remains healthy, but absence of the micro pieces of bones, make gravy more watery and easy to swallow.

3. Fancy Feast – Tender Turkey Feast for Kittens

Check Price on Amazon

Key Facts & Features:

  • Made by: Purina
  • Recipe: Tender Turkey Feast for Kittens
  • Weight & Number of Cans: 24 x 3 oz.
  • Ingredients: Tender turkey
  • Nature: Pâté with moisture
  • Why This: Making a list of 13 best wet cat foods, I could not miss the kittens – plus milk is not an ingredient (turkey is) so adult cats can also eat it

Oh yes!

Making a big, juicy cat foods list, we couldn’t miss out on cute kittens! Also, since the ingredient is Pâté and tender turkey, your adult cats can also eat it.

The rule of thumb is that milk is the only food that you can give to a kitten, but not to an adult cat!

Now, depending on your and your cat/kitten’s case, a recipe based only on turkey can either be a blessing or a disappointment. Why? Because if your cat loves turkey, it is a win-win, but if it needs a mix of all protein-based foods, e.g. chicken, beef and fish, then it is a problem.

I’d consider this kind of a con to make a can of cat/kitten food only around tender turkey pieces. But since this is all we have, let us take a look at the nutrients that your kitten will enjoy.

3 ounces of turkey breast includes:

  • 135 calories
  • 3.26 gram of fat
  • 0 carbohydrates
  • 24.70 gram of protein

And in general, turkey’s meat consists of these nutrients:

  • Vitamin B-6
  • Vitamin B-12
  • Niacin
  • Choline
  • Selenium
  • Zinc

While we’re discussing the nutrients locked in a turkey, let us not forget that both of the cat food cans that I’ve reviewed above include turkey as a main ingredient.

And here’s what this can of food does not include:

  • No grains
  • No corn
  • No wheat
  • No carbohydrate-rich food
  • No artificial ingredient, color, flavor or preservative

A point of dissatisfaction that I’d still like to mention is that they add a little amount of cow milk to this tender turkey feast. Why? I cannot tell why, since cats are lactose intolerant.

We do know that cow milk – whatever quantity is there – makes this bad for cats as well as kittens. Yet, If you read the reviews, you see that this product has a 4.3/5 star rating on Amazon and buyers do not seem to be complaining about how their cat/kitten felt once they put it on this diet.

Seems to be safe.

4. Fancy Feast – Medleys

Check Price on Amazon

Key Facts & Features

  • Made by: Purina
  • Recipe: Medleys (mixture of different diets)
  • Weight & Number of Cans: 4 packs x 12 cans each x 3 oz.
  • Ingredients: 4 different diets in one mega deal – veggies & garden greens, white meat collection, long grain rice & garden greens and shredded garden greens
  • Nature: Shredded
  • Why This: One of the best wholesome wet cat food package – with all sorts of tastes, nutrients and freedom to feed your cat what she wants to eat

I know:

It is a bit difficult to explain. And it is only because this cat food is not just a single can or package, but 4 different diets packed in one big box.

Medleys was definitely a just name for this package. To better understand the taste and nutrients confined in each of these cans, let us take all 4 packs one by one, dissect what’s inside them and see what’s good and what’s bad (if any).

Primavera Collection – Garden Veggies & Greens Sauce

Here is all that you must need about this pack:

  • Garden greens – stuff like spinach, lettuce, beets and kale etc.
  • Veggies – stuff like carrots, broccoli, beans and asparagus etc.

White Meat Chicken Collection – Garden Greens in Sauce

Now here’s what this pack contains:

  • Chicken collection – poultry broth, chicken, liver, turkey and nutrients
  • Garden Greens in Sauce – Spinach and corn etc.

Tuscany Collection – Long Grain Rice & Garden Greens

Here is what you will find in this pack:

  • Long grain rice
  • Garden Greens – spinach, corn and minerals

Shredded Fare Collection – With Garden Greens in Savory Broth

Here is what’s included in this pack:

  • Shredded Fare – poultry broth, turkey, liver, meat by-products and many nutrients
  • Garden Greens – spinach and corn etc.

What you definitely need to know it that this is kind of a deal like Russian dolls; in a big package, you get 4 packs and in each pack there are 3 different type of cans based on one theme e.g. shredded fare collection, but different recipes.

It is something unique and I cannot help but appreciate the attention to details they paid and how they made it all for the cat. This is a big juicy menu for a cat that loves diversity in its food.

So, if you’ve spoiled your cat with so many different treats or you love variety of food for your cat, this is the absolute food package that you need.

5. Friskies – Chicken Lovers

Check Price on Amazon

Key Facts & Features

  • Made by: Purina
  • Recipe: Chicken Lovers
  • Weight & Number of Cans: 2 packs x 32 cans each x 5.5 oz.
  • Ingredients: 32 cans in each pack, means a whole big range of ingredients with chicken as main ingredient
  • Nature: Filet, shreds & sauce
  • Why This: One of the best wholesome wet cat food package – with all sorts of tastes, nutrients and freedom to feed your cat what she wants to eat

As you can see:

This is yet another product from Purina – the same company. This company’s wet cat foods are divided into Fancy Feast and Friskies. The last pack was all Fancy Feast and this one is all Friskies.

Theme is the same and I simply LOVE it! Russion dolls! You purchase includes 2 big packs, in each pack there are 32 cans and every 4 cans are based on a different recipe.

So yes, I really love the diversity and variety that they offer to cats.

Here is the list of the 4 diets/cans (8 cans of same diet per pack = 32 cans) that you will find in each of these packs.

With Chicken in Gravy – Prime Filets

Here are the contents of this can:

  • Water
  • Chicken filet
  • Nutrients
  • Vegetables + greens for gravy

With Chicken in Gravy – Shreds

Here are the contents of this can:

  • Water
  • Chicken shreds
  • Nutrients
  • Vegetables + greens for gravy

Chicken & Tuna Dinner in Gravy – Filets

Here are the contents of this can:

  • Water
  • Chicken filet
  • Tuna filet
  • Nutrients
  • Vegetables + greens for gravy

Chicken & Salmon Dinner in Gravy – Shreds

Here are the contents of this can:

  • Water
  • Chicken shreds
  • Salmon shreds
  • Nutrients
  • Vegetables + greens for gravy

Remember, in all Purina foods made for cats and dogs, aroma and taste can be artificial in order to make it acceptable for your kitty. While there can be different nature of the food e.g. filets or shreds, they are always mouthful.

While gravy is definitely tasty, it is mostly and mainly what makes this a “wet” cat food.

6. Wellness Minced – Tuna Dinner Bits in Light Gravy

Key Facts & Features

  • Made by: Wellness
  • Recipe: Tuna Dinner Bits + Light Gravy
  • Weight & Number of Cans: 24 cans each x 3 oz.
  • Ingredients: Tuna and vegetables
  • Nature: Pâté
  • Why This: Tuna is one of the biggest source of protein for any domestic cat

Wellness is just another big brand when it comes to cat and dog foods.

This pack of Wellness wet cat diet is full of protein and nutrients.

However, just like tender turkey recipe that I’ve covered above, this cat food tin is also a tricky game, because while your cat enjoys the taste and nutrition of a tuna, it does not get other nutrients and ingredients needed for its overall health.

Let us take a look at its main ingredients:

  • Tuna – main ingredient
  • Tomatoes – for curry
  • Cranberries – to prevent harmful bacteria accumulation in urinary tract
  • Flaxseed – for healthy skin and coat
  • Also included chicken, fish broth, died egg whites, salmon, carrots and specially added nutrients

Now remember, that mainly it is based on main ingredients, and all other ingredients form a little part of the whole deal.

And here is the amount of most important nutrients and ingredients in this diet:

  • Crude Protein minimum 8.00%
  • Crude Fat minimum 3.00%
  • Crude Fiber maximum 1.00%
  • Moisture maximum 82.00%
  • Taurine minimum 0.05%

And here are the nutrients and percentage thereof in a serving of 4 oz. Tuna, as per estimation of WHFoods:

  • Selenium 223%
  • Vitamin B3 156%
  • Vitamin B12 111%
  • Vitamin B6 69%
  • Protein 66%
  • Phosphorus 54%
  • Vitamin D 23%
  • Choline 21%
  • Iodine 15%
  • Potassium 13%
  • Vitamin B1 13%
  • Vitamin B2 12%

The best thing about this feast is that small bits of tuna and 82% moisture make it super easy for a cat, even a kitten to easily chew on it and swallow it.

Also, this can is carrageenan free. What is carrageenan? It is a substance acquired from seaweeds used as a thickening agent in different processed food items.

Since there is no carrageenan in this diet, you rest assured that your cat will be devouring a very yummy and watery delight.

Another huge advantage that this diet from Wellness enjoys on Purina or other companies diets is that it is both: processed and backed in North America.

  • Full of Tuna nutrition and other ingredients
  • 82% Watery Delight
  • 100% grain-free
  • No meat-by products, artificial flavors, colors or preservatives
  • Processed in North America subject to FDA

7. Fancy Feast – Chicken Feast

Key Facts & Features

  • Made by: Purina
  • Recipe: Chicken Feast
  • Weight & Number of Cans: 2 packs x 12 cans each x 3 oz.
  • Ingredients: Chicken, veggies, fish and nutrients
  • Nature: Classic Pâté with tender texture
  • Why This: For a cat that needs chicken more than any other ingredient

Well, this is mainly a real chicken recipe. This is the main ingredient and thus defines the taste of this feast. The nature of this diet is pâté and the tender texture of the product makes it easy for the cat to devour it.

It is a pack full and loaded with nutrition, because Purina and some other companies too, apparently claims to add a lot of ingredients, nutrients and minerals other than the main deal i.e. chicken.

Since it is chicken pâté (classic), it goes without saying that it is the flavor and aroma that even the choosiest cats enjoy. As you can see in this list and you can see on Amazon or web as well, most of the processed cat foods (wet or dry) are based on chicken pâté.

Since it is a saucy deal – wet enough, it is good for both kittens and cats.

Here is the list of ingredients other than chicken:

  • Chicken broth
  • Liver
  • Veggies and Greens
  • Nutrients and Minerals

In a few Oz of this meal, you will find roughly:

  • Minimum 10% Crude Protein
  • 5.0% Crude Fat
  • 1.5% Crude Fibre
  • 78% Moisture
  • 0.05% Taurine

What makes this thing perfect is pâté nature of the food; way better than shredded or filet because it is too easy to chew and swallow.

We know that this meals is a “chicken feast”; I think it would be better to know the kind of nutrients this main ingredient will bring to your kitty’s platter.

As per National Chicken Council here are the nutrients that you will find in roughly 3 oz. of cooked chicken’s breast:

  • 165 calories
  • 31 gram protein
  • 3.6 gram fat
  • 1 gram saturated fat
  • 85 milligram cholesterol
  • 74 milligram sodium
  • 1 milligram iron

Well, definitely, a chicken is not even close as nutrient as fish or beef, but it still does the job – especially when it comes to taste. Cats are so in love with chicken that they want to eat it irrespective of nutrition chart.

So, it is good that you have this limited amount of nutrients + those added to the diet by the processor, while you feed your cat its most favorite feast.

8. Friskies – Classic Paté Poultry Favorites

Key Facts & Features

  • Made by: Purina
  • Recipe: Classic Paté Poultry Favorites
  • Weight & Number of Cans: 1 pack x 32 cans each x 5.5 oz.
  • Ingredients: Chicken, veggies, fish and nutrients
  • Nature: Classic Pâté with tender texture
  • Why This: Yet another pack of high protein feasts

So is this yet another Russian dolls deal? The answer is, definitely yes!

It is one big pack. The pack contains 32 containers over all, each 8 containers have one particular recipe.

Here are the recipes that your cat enjoys in just one big pack:

  • Poultry platter
  • Liver and chicken
  • Turkey and giblets
  • Mixed grill

Let us see what each of these 4 different recipes holds for your cat.

Poultry Platter – Paté

Here are main contents of this diet:

  • Poultry by-products
  • Turkey
  • Meat by-products
  • Liver
  • Fish
  • Rice
  • Nutrients and Minerals

Liver & Chicken Dinner – Paté

Here are the main ingredients:

  • Meat by-products
  • Poultry by-products
  • Liver
  • Fish
  • Water
  • Rice
  • Nutrients and Minerals

Turkey & Giblets – Paté

Here is what your cat will find in this delight:

  • Meat by-products
  • Poultry by-products
  • Turkey
  • Water
  • Rice
  • Fish
  • Nutrients and Minerals

Mixed Grill – Paté

Here are ingredients of this recipe:

  • Meat by-products
  • Water
  • Poultry by-products
  • Chicken
  • Rice
  • Nutrients and Minerals

Now, as you can see, the best thing about this package is again the freedom that you and your fluffy partner will have in terms of variety.

You don’t get a package, you receive a menu card, your fluffy fat fella takes a look at it and lets you know whether she needs turkey or chicken or a mixed deal of all of them.

Pate just makes things interesting because it the kind of texture and shape that makes it easiest for a cat to devour a big feast without any problem.

These delights are around 78% watery, so this fact + pate, make it a real quick and easy deal for your cat to chew and swallow any of these feasts.

9. Organix – Organic Chicken & Chicken Liver Recipe

Key Facts & Features

  • Made by: Castor & Pollux
  • Recipe: Chicken & Chicken Liver
  • Weight & Number of Cans: 1 can x 5.5 oz.
  • Ingredients: Organic chicken, liver, peas and dried eggs etc.
  • Nature: Pâté
  • Why This: Apparently a 100% organic diet for those who are concerned about artificially processed foods

Well, well, well!

Some company has set the bar higher – or at least apparently, they use nothing but organic items. If you’re a concerned cat owner with a wish to live a life based organic food, this is the best delight for your cat.

I mean if you consider how Purina and a few other companies admit (rest of them do not even mention), that artificial colors, aromas, ingredients and meat as well as poultry by-products are used to make their diets, this one seems to be a gift of God with ALL ORGANIC ingredients.

Speaking of which, let us take a detailed look at the ingredients:

  • Organic Chicken
  • Water
  • Organic Chicken Liver
  • Organic Peas
  • Organic Coconut Flour
  • Organic Dried Egg
  • Organic Pea Protein
  • Organic Flaxseed
  • Organic Cranberries
  • Organic Dried Alfalfa Meal
  • Many minerals and nutrients

Here are some important contents of this diet:

  • 9% Crude Protein
  • 5% Crude Fat
  • 1% Crude Fiber
  • 78% Moisture
  • 2.10% Ash (inorganic materials)
  • 0.10% Taurine

What is very important to remember here is that this is 100% grain-free diet for your cat. Also, it does not contain artificial colors, aroma, taste, meat or poultry-by products or even organic cow milk (cuz it’s not good for cats).

It is safe to say that this a raw inspired food – based on all organic ingredients – because chicken is what cats love to eat. Also, chicken’s aroma or taste need no cloaking, because if you ever had a cat you know that cats (and kittens) love it.

Last, but not the least, this is a Pâté food. What is pâté, well you all know this. It is forcemeat or minced meat or mixture of meat or vegetables, spread in a platter.

What makes it so special for cats? These cute little animals cannot swallow or digest big chunks of food. Not only pâté has amazing soft texture on it, but it is much easier to eat or swallow when compared to filet or shredded cat food.

10. Soulistic – Duck Dinner in Gravy

Key Facts & Features

  • Made by: Soulistic
  • Recipe: Duck in Gravy
  • Weight & Number of Cans: 12 cans x 5.5 oz.
  • Ingredients: Duck, tuna, sunflower oil etc.
  • Nature: Moist & Tender Gravy
  • Why This: Because no other cat food so far in this review brought duck to the kitty’s table

So, a first timer!

I must say that it is interesting to see the types of food that this dear feline friend shares with us, and it makes me admit that perhaps human beings are also more carnivore and less herbivore.

Duck is a whole different deal of nutrients and calories.

Let us take a look at all ingredients of this diet:

  • Tuna broth
  • Duck
  • Tuna
  • Tapioca Starch
  • Sunflower Oil
  • Guar Gum
  • Many Minerals and Nutrients

And here is the analysis of overall energy packed in this little delight:

  • 8% Crude Protein
  • 1.5% Crude Fat
  • 1% Crude Fibre
  • 84% Moisture
  • 3.0% Ash
  • 0.05% Taurine

Since Scoulistic brings a new animal to kitty’s dining table, it is much required to take a look at the calories, nutrients and minerals normally found in a duck.

As per Wikipedia’s article on duck as food, in case of 100 grams of a cooked duck, these nutrients can be found:

  •  10 g Saturated Fat
  • 84 mg Cholesterol
  • 59 mg Sodium
  • 204 mg Potassium
  • 4% Vitamin A
  • 15% Iron
  • 10% Vitamin B6, etc.
  • 4% Magnesium
  • 5% Cobalamin
  • 1% Calcium

While it is not Pate, it is minced, moist and tender – definitely it is just as easy for a cat to eat and swallow as in the case of pate.

True or not, Soulistic wants to make a point that while their canned food for cat is not 100% organic, it is near organic, because they used a real, caged duck without any hormones or antibiotics, and they used freshly and wild caught fish for this can of food.

This is why food is 100% free of:

  • Grain
  • Gluten
  • Carrageenan
  • Artificial flavors, colors or preservatives etc.

This is also not per se a “processed food”; as per their claim it was made in a human food facility.

Not only gravy and food make it easy to eat and digest, the ingredients of this diet make a blend of taste, nutrition and aroma – something that your cat would love and permit to be on its platter.

11. Soulistic – Lamb Dinner in Gravy

Key Facts & Features

  • Made by: Soulistic
  • Recipe: Lamb in Gravy
  • Weight & Number of Cans: 12 cans x 5.5 oz.
  • Ingredients: Lamb, tuna, sunflower oil etc.
  • Nature: Moist & Tender Gravy
  • Why This: Because no other cat food so far in this review brought Lamb to the kitty’s table

Now this is yet another new animal on cat’s table and definitely packed and loaded with nutrients. Since a lamb is red meat, the best thing that we can say about this Soulistic delight is that it is a blend of high protein ingredients – including lamb itself.

And it should go without saying that cats need high protein diet more than any nutrient-rich diet – protein is so good for lean body mass and overall energy that a predator needs.

Here are the ingredients of this can:

  • Tuna Broth
  • Lamb
  • Tuna
  • All other ingredients from Soulistic’s duck recipe

Analysis of the nutrition is also the same as in case of the previous recipe.

Here are the most important nutrients that you will find in every 100 grams of cooked lamb’s meet:

  • 9 g saturated fat
  • 97 g Cholesterol
  • 25 g Protein
  • Calcium
  • Iron
  • Magnesium

Just like previous recipe, this one is also grain and gluten free. It is also free of artificial colors, taste, ingredients and preservatives.

12. Azmira – Beef & Chicken Formula

Key Facts & Features

  • Made by: Azmira Holistic Animal Care
  • Recipe: Beef & Chicken Formula
  • Weight & Number of Cans: 24 cans x 5.5 oz.
  • Ingredients: Beef, Chicken, Liver and Fish etc.
  • Nature: Broth
  • Why This: Because this product packs both red and white meat

Well, I did not pick this only because it packs and loads both red and white meat, but also because this product has been the winner of  Whole Cat Journal’s best canned food award.

The biggest benefit remains it being a perfect blend of all sorts of vitamins and nutrients that a cat badly needs.

Here is the detail of the contents of this formula:

  • Beef
  • Beef Broth
  • Chicken
  • Chicken Liver & Kidney
  • Fish
  • Oat Bran
  • Brown Rice
  • Many other ingredients and nutrients

The analysis says that this can contains:

  • 10% Crude Protein
  • 1% Crude Fibre
  • 5% Crude Fat
  • 78%  Moisture
  • 2% Ash
  • 03% Magnesium
  • 0.5% Taurine

Fortunately, unlike top of the line brands, this formula does not contain water. To make it watery, they added beef’s broth. You can add water as per your cat’s unique liking or disliking.

13. Dave’s  – Tuna and Salmon

Key Facts & Features

  • Made by: Dave’s Naturally Healthy Food
  • Recipe: Tuna & Salmon
  • Weight & Number of Cans: 1 pack x 24 cans x 3 oz.
  • Ingredients: Tuna and Salmon
  • Nature: Aspic and Broth
  • Why This: Because this product brings together the nutrients of two highly nutrient fishes

Well, this one is a special one!

Why? Because it combines the taste, aroma and nutrients of two white meat diets. Tuna and Salmon both are salt water fishes and known for Omega-3 fatty acids, protein and a lot of other crucial nutrients.

And here is the detail about the ingredients that you will find in this can:

  • Tuna Broth
  • Tuna
  • Salmon
  • Sunflower Oil
  • And many other nutrients and ingredients

Analysis of the contents says:

  • 11% Crude Protein
  • 1.50% Crude Fat
  • 0.50% Crude Fibre
  • 82% Moisture
  • 3.0% Ash
  • 149 calories/can
  • 0.20% Calcium

The best thing about this deal is that it apparently does not have any artificial additives and preservatives.

Buyer’s Guide – What to look for when buying cat food?

Here are some basic rules, best practices and principles to follow. Follow them and I’m sure that you’d not have a sorry and sob story to tell about the can that you could neither feed to your cat nor return.

  • Make sure that you buy from a famous brand – it is so because their shipments (from Amazon or store) are never late, they always have fresh stock for your cat and most importantly, they can be so good only if they were in business for too long.
  • However, some new and small brands make better products than big and old ones. In this
  • case, always check the kind of cat food you want. If you want organic cat food, buying from Purina is plain idiocy.
  • Also, make sure that you know what kind of texture and shape is filet, shredded, aspic, broth and Pate. Most of the cats and cat owners prefer Pate because it is easier to chew, swallow and digest.
  • Next thing is to take a look at the recipe; if your cat is a chicken lover, at least make sure that you buy a chicken-based canned food for your cat. Same goes for fish, lamb, duck or beef etc.
  • Last and not the least, make sure that you know that even big companies like Purina prepare cat food from meat and chicken by-products, artificial flavor, aroma and other additives – so much so, some of them use grain. Make sure to check company’s website for more details about the product, because on Amazon listings, they do not reveal everything.

Here are the most frequently asked questions and their answers.

What kind of food ingredients must be in my cat’s every day diet?

We have already answered this question in detail; make sure to check this post on our website. Basically make sure that you do not feed it milk, onion, chocolate, garlic, alcohol, grapes, caffeine, chocolate, raw eggs, yeast and dough etc. and feed it everything thing raw-inspired and healthy.

Do I need to look for breed-specific cat food?

Cats don’t think the way we think. Just like all human beings share same kind of raw food and at time same kind of processed food, cats also love to have high protein, low carb and controlled fat diet.

Why wet food is better than dry food?

Please not, that even dry food need water at the end so it does not really mean anything. However, cat is an animal that needs a good level of hydration. Those people who feed dry food to their cats, without mixing water in it, definitely do not do their feline friends a favor. Canned food is always full of water or similar content e.g broth, and secondly, it tends to have better quality protein. It keeps your cat hydrated as well.

Are grains and by-products really bad for cats?

While there is no consensus on this topic, it is widely believed that grains are not good for a cat’s health. Why? There are many reasons, but most easily provable one is allergy. Cats are allergic to grains – at least most of the times.

The by-products is a different deal. In simple words, by-products are leftovers of the meat from an animal, whose juicy, deboned and healthy meat has already been used for some purpose. This substandard meat is not considered healthy for cats.
