And if these scrap dogs plead with you, well imagine how thousands of loving stray and shelter doggies dream about a day when they will all be reunited back to family. For them, it is the most significant point in their lives.
Twinkle, too, was anticipating that time but instead of showering her with love she got the biggest shock in life and the heartbreak.

Rescued From The Streets
An elderly Chihuahua named Twinkle was found roaming the streets of Miami, Florida back in June 2022. That’s when she ended up at True and Faithful Pet Rescue Mission — a rescue with the goal to help senior and unwanted dogs escape from high-euthanasia shelters.

She was emaciated, dentally compromised, had a horrible skin infection, and basically no hair at all. She too required surgery to excise mammary tumors.
Fortunately, her surgery was successful and within a couple of weeks Twinkle was all back on her feet and put on some weight. It was an exciting new life for her.
The rescue announced that Twinkle was adopted in September of 2022. I thought her parents sounded wonderful and that everyone at the shelter agreed it was about time she got all the love!
Her family gave her up to the rescue only four months after she had been adopted. They surrendered her to them because she wanted to sleep in their bed.
This MP was owned by a couple who other senior Chihuahuas and they didn’t allow them to sleep in their bed either.
Devastated Twinkle
Her owners brought her to the shelter to turn her in; they passed her over the fence and walked away. Walking out of her life, twinkle kept gazing at the gates. Her heart was broken.
“Twinkle was inconsolable, lost,” I recall walking [into] the few dog room to find she had made a nook for herself sitting in the corner on a dog bed and shutting down, shaking from fear. In a statement, Madison Mulvihill — social media coordinator at True and Faithful Pet Rescue Mission — said: “She looked confused as she stared you in the face with a heart filled with pain.”
Twinkle was a dog who had perfect manners. All she wanted was love and snuggles, which her parents could not give.
The news of what had befallen Twinkle hit every one at the rescue hard. They had loved her to bits and could not come to terms with the fact that anyone would give away such a loving dog as twinkle.
She also has the biggest personality for a 3-and-a-half pound dog; twinkle is just so cute,” she said. She is fond of love and not shy to walk up to you when she needs some affection. She is so, full of joy and when she walks through the grass at the ranch you would be amused — little hops and bounces,” Mulvihill said.
So her friends made a TikTok video about her and shared her story, and they were determined to get her home.
True Love
Twinkle gained millions of fans, and the rescue was inundated with adoption requests. Her new parents had driven down from South Carolina to take her home.
They are all awesome, and now Twinkle has a total of six fur siblings. Her new parents say she can sleep with them whenever she wants, and her bed (a king-sized one) is also where she’s often found.
Twinkle finally had the family who was able to love her like she deserves and show her what love really is.
