Alyssa and Zachary are animal lovers, but they both share a particular affinity for dogs.
What they didn’t realize is that one little adoption would trigger a series of events that would lead to a serendipitous story of friendship and the dog’s best friend.
It started one day when Alyssa and Zachary discovered a post on Facebook from Trenton Animals Rock showing several dogs looking for forever homes.
Scrolling through some photos, the couple was drawn to one dog in particular — a gorgeous Chow Chow/Shar Pei mix named Max.
However, the thing that blew their minds was how similar Max looked to Zachary’s dog Arthur.
Wes And Arthur’s Friendship
Alyssa and Zack drove five hours to the shelter in Trenton, New Jersey, picked up Max — who was at the time called by a different name – and he became Wes.
When Wes stepped inside the warm embrace of his new home, this lovely scene greeted the couple.
As best friends, Wes and Arthur were like two pieces of a jigsaw puzzle that belonged together.
My head hesitated, but my heart settled in quickly; the magic of companionship came across as easily here. Before they knew, Wes and Arthur were practically inseparable.
They slept, walked and played together.
With blend of slight difference in their personalities, they became true best friends.
The couple had nicknamed them the “the same dog in a different font” because the dogs looked so similar and acted alike too!
Brothers Reunited
Alyssa and Zack decided to buy DNA test kits for both Wes and Arthur, out of curiosity.
They were trying to identify Wes’s breed and also get Arthur in for an appointment. What they didn’t know, was that this decision would reveal one amazing coincidence.
Test results revealed that Wes and Arthur were not just doppelgangers — they were actually brothers!
The couple were flabbergasted when they made this incredible find.
Grateful For The Rescue
Alyssa and Zack took great pleasure in knowing they’d given Wes the life he deserved.
And as lovely as that was, even lovelier to see the bond built between Wes and Arthur — accidental brothers.
They also thanked Trenton Animals Rock for introducing them to Wes and Embark Vet for matching them up with this amazing coincidence!
It was then that Alyssa and Zack both agreed that Wes and Arthur were much better suited to live a new life together which involved being best friends, that they could now be happy after years of bickering like best buddies can do, the only difference was, if you have an evil twin you beat up instead of a trickster.
In doing so, Alyssa and Zack not only brought Wes home but gave him a chance to be reunited with his long lost brother Arthur.
