Indeed, the Dalmatian dog breed, with its spotted black and white coat, is one of the unique dog breeds in the world, making it pretty recognizable and world-famous.
When Lexi Smith, a Denver native, decided to get a dog in 2018, she had no way of knowing that one puppy would change her life forever. But, oh boy, it did.
This little spotted puppy came into her life in March 2018. Then she noticed a little something about this puppy that made him even cuter.
This Dalmatian puppy had a heart-shaped spot in the center of his adorable puppy nose, and he took our breath away.
This heart-shaped marking wasn’t a deciding factor in Wiley’s adoption, his mom, Lexi, told People, and he wasn’t born with it: “I had commited to a puppy from his litter before any of them had spots. I really got first pick of the litter, but I picked him based on personality more than anything else.”
The marking began to appear when Wiley was around six weeks of age. They weren’t sure what it was going to take because he was so young, but luckily, the heart-shaped spot stayed for good on his coat.
Wiley Became Famous
“Everyone sees the heart,” Smith told the Dodo. “Can’t go anywhere without being mobbed, but he loves all the attention. He is cute and he knows it!”
Wiley not only has a vast heart-shaped marking on his nose, but he also has a big heart. He is super friendly and cuddly and loves new people.
As Lexi describes him, he is a little social butterfly who is very quick to greet everyone and will start playing with you right away.
Lexi writes on their website, “He leads in heart first in everything he does – both literally (‘cuz ya know… the nose) and figuratively. He leads with love and this world could see a lot more heart-first, love-lead action if you ask me.”
A Sweet Boy
And yet, he is a classic Dalmatian, too — “He is a stubborn little sweetheart full of sass that constantly makes me laugh.”
Even as a tiny puppy, he would “scoff and grunt at you when you told him no, but he doesn’t deal with that often because he is so cute and usually gets his way.”
Honestly, how could anyone resist those sweet eyes and bootable snoot?
“With love so large it comes out his face and joy so big it shakes his entire body, Wiley has taught me so much about what life and living should be.”
Shaking up Everything
A dog’s life may be brief, but Lexi’s aim is to make Wiley’s life as broad and as joyful as possible.
Armed with a camera and four spotted paws by her side, the pair are continually embarking on the adventure of a lifetime.
“From mountain tops to movie nights, beach days and brewery hangs, road trips and even rough times, all of it has been a little brighter and a lot fuller with this little spotted wild thing by my side.”
Wiley’s profile has more than 239K followers and plenty of likes, where you can follow their beautiful adventures on Instagram.
Lexi never thought she would have a second dog, but life again had other plans for her and Wiley. Recently, a dog named Makalu entered their lives, and now the three are sharing new adventures.
“We’re just going to continue to live life and hopefuly put more smiles on peoples’ faces,” says Lexi.
Until the entire universe is love.
