Speaking as an ex-dog owner, I must say, it was a very hard job. It would cause me a lot of trouble, which I would not be able to devote to my German Shepherd, as I would have.
And yet, I loved him so dearly that I would do anything for him. I always managed to find a way, even during the most difficult times raising him.
But that what is not always possible probably can not be comprehended by some. This has ended in a whole lot of bad shit happening — sometimes, life will haul you off, kicking and screaming, where you don’t want to go.
We would like to share the story of a sad dog who finds himself in a shelter after being handed there by the family who is supposed to take care of him; someone helped him before being euthanized.
A Difficult Situation
Smokey then got his family, and they used to enjoy getting him stuffed animals.
He had a pet that he was especially fond of; an elephant of some sort. It was hardly ever off his side.
He even went to bed each night with it, waking up in the morning and still clutching it tight.
Now, even though Smokey was doing well where he was, in fact, we would say that, above all expectations, his owners were not and had to resize their home due to some hard circumstances.
Sustainably feeding Smokey became very tricky, as money too became exceptionally tight. His owners knew this was not going to happen anymore.
The owners were losing their home and needed to get Smokey placed in a loving home fast — things turned ugly.
So they had to give him to a shelter and hoped to get lucky and get another family that could please him.
Smokey could hardly cope with having to say goodbye. And when they dropped him off at the shelter, he became a ball of nerves.

He would not socialize, and spent the majority of the day lying on his bed along with his favorite stuffed toy.
The Beginning Of A New And Better Life
The shelter workers did everything they could to get somebody to take him but it just was not gonna happen. Some were attracted to his story and pictures, but he did not care to look at them and would push them away.
This was the worst for him; he began displaying aggression also; there, we knew he was no longer adoptable, so he would soon be put on the path to euthanization.
They gave him a date for when he would be put down, they weren’t able to keep him long as he was aggressive to many of the potential adopters.
Maneuvering and finding other rescues to take him in and attempt whatever sort of something to change him. Nobody wished for this to happen.
Fortunately, for him, a group from Ohio called I Have a Dream reached out to them, agreeing to take him in.

They landed him a foster home almost immediately his anxiety and anger gone and his demeanor seemingly completely changed.
He was no longer sad and starting to enjoy soccer again, which is a positive indication of healing from his trauma. It had to be Smokey, who still enjoyed roaming around with his stuffed elephant.
So, the rescue organization from Ohio called him in for adoption and posted his story, even though it was a tad premature, so he could have a better chance.
Then sure enough, a lovely family saw Smokey on line and came to take him home, where he can rediscover what living feels like.
He has experienced so much trauma and he deserves someone who will understand and love him.
