Your life can change at any moment, and on that day, Lena was in no case prepared for that!
It happened to her at her South Carolina home when an astray devil crept in her garage and then hopped inside her car to hide shortly. When she first thought that it was a stray dog, her heart pound instantly.
As a dog owner and fellow canine lover herself, she simply could not let what felt like destiny pass by. Then it was that night, Lena and her family made the best decision EVER!
An Unexpected Encounter
Lena immediately knew that this stray dog was different, starting from the moment she caught him looking at her with the gentest, softest eyes.
My garage was wide open all the way. Lena told The Dodo, “I sort of saw this little guy walking across my garage and get in my car.
She later named him JD and he immediately took to her, shaking his little head “No” at the suggestion to exit the car so she could leave him at the shelter.
Lena and JD hit it off immediately, and that night, she and her spouse made the decision to have him stay in their garage.
The dog looked mangey as hell, and the family didn’t want to take any chances. They took him to the vet the very next morning and got the best news ever! So he found out that the problem JD had was just a skin allergy to the fleas.
The Sweetest Lovebug
Once they knew that JD was not infectious, they welcomed him indoors with open arms. Lena’s other dog, Bear, seemed a tad skeptical and standoffish towards JD at first, but his human siblings immediately flopped into their play mode!
JD was clearly the darling of the bunch and the best present was keeping him in the family.
In a couple weeks JD was playing with his stuffies and being around his siblings as if he was always there. Bear even warmed up to his little bro & let him join the pack!
He kept taking medicated baths until he finally healed completely. With the help of one of his “chosen” momma, JD finally scrubbed the old clear and now he is ready to begin life, a brand-new boi.
However, JD continues to love Lena’s car more than anything else, he just jumps and lays down there as he did from day one. Every time I want to take the family somewhere – he jumps right in line!
But it sure as hell is not going to say “no” to a nice snooze in an actual doggo bed!
Laying around and having quiet time with whomever he cares about. JD loves his new home in SC. It took him a little while to come out of his shell, but he absolutely feels like family now.
I think his personality was always sort of a thing, but it was definitely a little more subdued in the beginning. Believe me, Lena says, “I do feel successful.
JD is now the luckiest, happiest doggo in the whole world after once being a dog living on the streets trying to find some where to stay the night.
