For one NYC woman, getting a dog fostered was a ‘dream’ Heather Hamm is both a jewelry designer and photographer who has a long history of dog loving and dog shooting—capturing both her love for and of dogs in her photography, as Hamm grew up with a dog and was looking to foster one.
As she scrolled, she came across a post that got her heart pumping.
There was a completely unclaimed dog tied up to a pole on a subway station, with no one going to get it, according to an Instagram page that distributes information about free furniture across the city.
To Heather, it was meant to be and she went into action right away!
It Was Meant To Be
Searching for a dog to foster on her computer at her apartment in New York City, Heather came across an image of a dog that looked very lonely at the station. At that point her heart was racing!

And while she had no actual gameplan in place, she hopped into a cab and went to see the pooch. Heather was nervous because, whilst it wouldn’t be her first dog to foster, it would be her first to actually try and rescue one for real – and on the way to the being of a real ride.
But, when she got there – her doubts disappeared!! The dog was very sweet, and as soon as she saw Heather, her tail started wagging like its own little helicopter.
It was where the giant-hearted woman ran by, and she melted around her instantly, and well, okay, that was good too, in a way. A small lick on the face which means, thank you hooman!
Online, people could do little more than speculate about the dog for hours until a comment popped up on their screen:

The Best Thing I Found
The pooch, now called Peaches, just melted into Heather’s arms Heather had a conversation with the New York City police and they said it was OK for Heather to take Peaches home, and that’s where the real adventure began.
The duo instantly hit it off like nothing else. Peaches was instantly very friendly with her great doggo manners.
She was already familiar with commands, and enjoyed playing fetch with Heather. Her favourite pastime is her daily excursions to a park, and her true love when it comes to toys – Peaches is head over heels for stuffies!
Heather is forever grateful for her as having her in her life was truly the best reward. Although Peaches was cruelly abandoned, in the end she received a loving foster. And, her heart utterly healed in the presence of her new mama!
Well, Peaches eventually got her forever home!
Heather commented she has been rehomed and gets every bit of love she ever needed!!
“She’s doing wonderful! She’s recently been adopted and is being completely spoiled in her new home,” she wrote.
Peaches is one lucky pup who was once homeless and now has a bed of her own to sleep in!
