There is never a good time of the year to say goodbye to your best furry friend.
Old, sick or going to a new home — you never feel quite ready for the last goodbye. But, when that dreaded time arrives — all you can do is to vow that every last one of their memories will be kept in your heart.
That promise was one a Missouri man kept, but he could never come to terms with the fact that his longtime friend Mika would not be there.
His family, realizing their dad was hurting too, decided to take matters into their own hands.
A Heartwarming Internet Surprise
Mika and her father had some beautiful years together. Not only were they not just friends, but they were two peas in a pod who did everything together.
Mika had even become a part of her dad’s work schedule.
Treat her like a pretentious 16-year-old, okay? Every single day, she went out with him to the sod farm and rode in equipment with him. She was there from the time he awoke to his sleeping hours. The man’s family said in a post via ViralHog that he grieved for her very badly.
His daughter wanted to cheer him up, so when she discovered a basket of puppies born on his birthday, it seemed like the perfect omen. A few days later, she and her family went to see the grandfather, bringing along Boone, a dog his granddaughter had picked out to be her papa’s new friend.
I knew that Boone was the one because he really vibed with my 4-year-old granddaughter. And it only took her over two weeks to reveal it! She was able to get to him in whose arms her Papa could deliver thế giới. And we knew he would be emotional – but never imagined this reaction,” the post reads.
The man was in denial for a few moments.
He gave a quizzical look to his little girl.
She told the grandpa, “A puppy,” and handed him over.
As soon as he held the pup in his arms, emotions came over him. Maybe it was all the memories with Mika coming back to him all at once, or maybe it was the unending joy of beginning a new journey — but most likely both.
The Missouri man began to cry as he described their first cuddles with the new friend before family soon came to his side.
