And can you believe that one day when it is freezing cold outside you stumble upon a dog laying listlessly in its tiny crate? And that has been basically what life has looked like for Prima, who her owners abandoned in the winter.
And this doggo girl was so starved that she ate whatever little scrap she could find to survive and almost died because of it.
Prima was close to reaching the point of no return when she was discovered. The rapid growth of cancer her condition was far more serious than they believed it would be and there was only a small chance given with appropriate treatment.
Found In Horrible Shape
Two volunteers from Houston Texas, Jannel and Robby found Prima on their walk through the park in their neighbourhood where they regularly feed dumped animals. She was snuggled into one of the “houses” Corridor Rescue placed to help stray animals during court, winter.
When Jannel took a closer look she realised that Prima was no ordinary dog They went to check right away, her belly was swollen and she was having a hard time making any movements.
When they reached her kennel, she was very thin,Some I could count her vertebrae and her distended belly was possibly because of arrested heart worm too. The volunteers gave her food and water, which she accepted at first reluctantly.
The Corridor Rescue wrote on Facebook: ‘This girl was so hungry she saba to devour literally the next thing in her way when dumped and eat and eat.
They knew Prima likely would not survive alone, so they reached out to Corridor Rescue, who quickly agreed to take in the poor girl.

“Oh my God, this is what I saw when she stepped out. Her stomach huge, she was emaciated. Janell wrote on Facebook that her first instinct was to start calling around because she knew the dog needed rescue right away.
Eventually, they enticed Prima out and packed her into their vehicle. On the way to be rescued, she let it all go. She was scared and terrified of people, but she looked like she knew that her rescuers were not going to hurt er.
Beating The Odds
The vet told us that Prima had end-stage heartworms. Sadly, they travelled to her pulmonary artery making surgical removal virtually impossible.
By this time, she was regarded as a hospice case, and the rescue simply wanted to get Prima into a comfortable foster home where she could spend her final days loved and safe.
Prima had experienced a lifetime of neglect and abuse — or so said her rescuers. We know nothing of the past for this dog, only that she was was abandoned and likely abused very badly; so much so that Prima has traumatic memories that have long-been embedded in her.

This girl was very traumatized and struggled to adapt to a new environment/new people aside from her physical state.
The vet explained that after evalutating the options for her care, the only choice she had was an invasive and aggressive heart worm treatment known as a “fast kill,” which would involve multiple injections over months.
That would be her last shot at life and the rescuers were inclined to allow her some grace. And she remained on fluids, being fed 2–3 hourly and needed antibiotics to help her get through this.
Prima began to show improvement as treatment progressed. And after this, she was miraculously very much on the mend, her stomach bubble quickly disappeared. Like a champ against all odds, Prima proved the naysayers wrong, and her heartworms gradually disappeared from her system.
“Whatever darkness that came, she wasn’t going to let it stop her from a happy and ever after. This little miracle was no longer going to let (because of the word hospice) hold him down, the rescue wrote on Facebook.

She got well again after a grueling spell at this Texas rescue and started an equally life-changing experience in her foster home.
That slowly changed when, fully emerged from her shell, we introduced her to other dogs since she was just so happy to be alive again. She had suffered long enough, now it was time for her to flourish!
Miraculous Ending
Just a few months later, you wouldn’t even have recognized Prima. She grew into a thrived and adored loving girl who loved everything about her new life.
She was a total sweetheart and goofy — she finally turned into a full doggo! Per her foster pawrents, Prima is a cuddle bug. Nearly impossible to get a non-blurry picture of her if she is awake as that is her favorite sleeping position next to her foster mates his lap.
In this moment, Prima was prepared to grow into a new home and a new life—she had been formerly classified as a hospice patient. And soon enough her new family were here!
She has been placed in a home with an incredible family and she is loving it. Every day is a new adventure for Prima in her new environment, and she thrives and shines.

But thanks to giant-hearted rescuers who weren’t about to give up on Luna, she has an entirely new life ahead of her!
