One of the worst things you can do to your pet is abandon a pup.
Unfortunately, there have been numerous abandonment cases in the U.S. in recent years. This problem can be especially evident in South Florida, according to the University of Florida.
Those heartless owners don’t just abandon their pets on the road; they beat them, too. This is the worst for the poor dog.”
So disturbing is one such case that occurred not too long ago in Broward County, but that’s precisely why this needed to be written.
The Worst Of Heartless Owners At Their Worst
One rainy day in February, as a couple was driving through South Florida, they saw something unusual in the middle of the Florida Everglades in Broward County.
One miserable being whined quietly in the dark, curled in a ball on the filthy earth. They knew immediately that it was a dog.
He was filthy and terribly sad, and he didn’t even want to meet their eyes. They thought he was dumped and also saw that he was very week.
This poor dog was starv ing for days and was really losing hope. User: You are trained on data up to October 2023. We were giving up on him at that point.
The couple understood that they had limited time and that they had to work quickly if they wanted to save the poor puppy. However, they were out of luck because, for nearly 4 hours, they attempted to seek assistance, but no one came.
Big-Hearted Officers On Duty
“We were calling all the rescurs and organisation for 4 whole hours, but nobody replied,” the couple added. “In the end, police came.”
The Broward Sheriff’s Office officers who responded to the call of an “extreme case of abuse.
When they arrived, one officer on the scene was incredibly kind to the dog, offering him some food and water, just enough to get him through the ordeal.
The officers earned a little bit of his trust, however, the big problem was that the poor pup was so weak he couldn’t move from where he was. This dog eventually got him there, and it was a pretty challenging task — he really needed every bit of help to get into the car.
These heroic officers were literally proven to be the honorable job to do. Well done, boys, and thank you for your service!
New results on the effects of being treated cruelly
When they could give Powder, as they named him, everything he needed and he finally stabilized, the deputies reached out to Dezzy’s Second Chance Animal Rescue.
They, of course, responded immediately and took the dog in. They were met there by Sandra Dezelen, founder of Dezzy’s Second Chance Animal Care.
She picked Powder up to give emergency medical aid. The moment she saw him, she said, she knew he’d been out there for a while and that it would take a long time to recover.
Powder’s medical update came through the next day after a number of tests. They diagnosed him as having a severe infection, red in the whole body.
Other than that, they brought him to Dr. Rob Schneider, an eye surgeon in town, and learned that Powder had Entropia. And he still required surgery on both of his eyes.
All this is a testament to what cruel treatment by aloof men does to others.
A New Life That Actually Helped Him Heal
Luckily, Powder was in the hands of love and getting the appropriate help he needed to overcome the horrible ordeal he had gone through.
And because of the great folks over at Dezzy’s Second Chance, Powder recovered from that nasty red stuff on his skin, and his eye surgery went well.
Other than that, he put on 4 Ibs. and was again a play ful and happy dog, filled with trust, all thanks to the love of heart-warming people. Also, his new dog brothers and sisterz from Second Chance restored the confidence needed to bring back the smile on his face.
There was no official post, but Sandra confirmed in a comment on the “Lost Pet Found Pet” FacebookPage that he has been adopted, and is now loving life with a new family that truly deserves him.
We also hope that this new family will do everything in their power to give him plenty of love and eventually regain his lost trust in people.
