It has also been said that Golden Retrievers are the soulmates of the dog world.
I second that.
They are truly friendly with everyone, including strangers. Once a Golden likes you[,] it will not matter if you are a household resident, friend or an intruder. Wrapping up, they are just too adorable sweet and sweet 24/7.
Which makes it all the more understandable this family from Virginia had no idea they did anything wrong. There was never another dog that would trot home with a stranger, but a Golden would.
The guilty party in this friendly little break-in? None other than the family cats — they sniff everything, but especially unfamiliar dogs.
The Friendliest Intruder
Bless doggy daycare centers. They are the best option for dog owners who need to leave them alone at home while they go to work.
Unfortunately, these daycares can be a double-edged sword.
One day, this little girl from Virginia experienced what rarely happens. However, as they say, only one time is too many.
The day started out just like any other for Golden Retriever Emmy and her family. This sweet Golden girl has been hitting doggy daycare every morning and she’s loving it! Time spent that can’t be bought with human friends, dog friends.
Emmy was in daycare when her family decided that maybe she needed hair appt, so they picked the groomer at the daycare and hoped to make their girl more beautiful Nothing unusual, right?
At the end of the day however is when things began to get weird when the son from the family came to collect Emmy. She looked a little off, but everyone just thought it was the hair. They’ll get used to it.
But some relatives caught all of this right off the bat, and they proclaimed in plain language that there was no way they’d ever accept getting updated.
The family cats undoubtedly knew that this wasn’t their precious Emmy, the dog that allowed them to smother her with kitty kisses every day. So the cats began clawing at the new Emmy by freaking hissing like they were in a sound proof room back then.
When the new Emmy began licking faces (which old Emmy never did) and didn’t greet cherished neighbor (which all Emmy always did), family wondered whether it was their dog.
Off to the vets!
The vet merely validated their suspicions: Emmy did not make the list.
Well, we grabbed the wrong DOG from daycare. Hmm… where on our GodGarn Emmi? Is she still, there waiting for us? Broken heart.

The family hurried to the daycare center and learned that they had two almost identical Goldens: Emmy, and the new-and-improved Emmy. It was no different from anyone who would have made an honest mistake.
In both cases, the dogs were returned to their owners. And finally, the real one was home, Emmy.
What would the look of concern on her face be like when, instead of taking the dog outside, her son walked in and took the other dog? For sure she was perturbed and really sad poor girl!
The bright side was both dogs were microchipped. So, in case you are still sitting on the fence about getting your dog microchipped, this is your sign to do it. Microchipping helps reunite up to 50% of lost dogs with their families.
So imagine how low that figure would be if the positive impact of microchipping was not clear. There would be too many man hearts broken lost dogs gone unaccounted for.
The cost of microchipping is not expensive. Some vet clinics will do it for just $20 and some change. If you want a dog, you can drop an Andrew Jackson around the wallet.
