Of all the abandoned dog’ stories I have read in my twenty years of working with rescue, Nova’s is one of the most heartbreaking.
This good boi was disposed of like trash in a dumpster, through no fault of his own. Scared, dazed, and totally lost, this is waiting for somebody to be charitable enough to reach out with a friendly hand.
But Nova got way more than just a save. He had also been given a family with whom he could always rub it in his abandoner’s face, and Nova was now doing fine.

Life Has Been Hard On Nova
So when Nova was discovered in a dumpster by a passerby, they had to take another look.
When the tarp covering him had been taken away, this man found a massive infected sore that caused his leg to balloon. They quickly went to the clinic, where a nice PAWS Chicago team took over from there.
Sadly, his leg could not be saved and Nova was a three-legged boi.
Nova had been discovered in a dumpster with a big, deeply infected wound. According to PAWS Chicago, the infection was so severe that he would shortly require an amputation before his body went into sepsis.”
Even all of that doesn’t compare to the fact that he had scars and cuts all over his body – it was obvious that he had been tortured and neglected. Still, none of it prevented Nova from electing to be all chipper and gung-ho about existence!
On his first day post-op, Nova was already milking it. He was bouncing into laps and jumping up for scritches, throwing his toys around and wolfing down food,’ the rescue said.
Quickly, due to his amazing disposition, Nova was adopted by his friend Omar into a family for life.
And before anyone could understand any of it, Omar and he was in a house somewhere new; against all the predictions and names, they had been called out to start an entirely different chapter.
Firstly, A Note To Nova The Dog’s Former Owner
It has been nothing but sweet life for Nova since the day he was adopted. He and Omar stuck together for the most part, and his new human kept telling him that nothing bad would happen to him anymore.
They even uploaded some of Nova’s update videos to video sites, and blasted messages to his former owners.
His owners gave a sneak peek at his new doggo bed — complete with a matching quilt in one of the videos. To be frank, this so-called dumpster dog is living large now.
The message states: ‘Dad got me a matching quilt for my own bed.
Nova now never misses anything from his life. But even after everything he had experienced, mama and papa planned to sweeten his life as much as they could.
Now, with Nova being a special-needs dog, this can sometimes be more than a little difficult. He can hardly walk, crawl on the couch, and a lot of other things, but he never became a quitter.
And, the people who own him, also never give up!
Just recently, I took Nova to the beach for the first time after moving into my new neighbourhood.
In one of the final TikTok videos his owners shared, they had an additional message for the person who abandoned Nova.
Hey whoever put me in the dumpster and tossed it out, how about this? I found out that there was a lovely world outside of my dumpster, and today, my dad took me to the beach.
