This was how Clay found Tappie, rummaging through garbage at one of his job sites up in North Georgia.
Scraps of food were tossed to the worker but no one could get near her She was shy and she shunned people.
In hopes to gain the pup’s trust and get her off the streets, Clay began bringing her treats a few times each week.
But Tappie was wary of him, even though she appreciated all of Clay’s kindness and compassion.
Earning Tappie’s Trust
Tappie was still being fed by the kind man. There he sat on the ground talking calmly and softly to her, calling her towards him.
Slowly, the doggo started to figure out she could trust Clay. So, because she was still a little hesitant, she began to walk towards him, but would not move beyond a certain distance.

But, one day, while the well-meaning fellow was there, she walked up to him and gobbled a snack from his hand then lay down next to him.
And that Tappie taught him how to trust a friend. So Clay snuggled up next to her and showered her with worrisome kisses, feeling like he finally had his girl where he wanted.
The doggo melted and in that moment Clay knew he was bringing her home.
He carefully lifted her into a truck of his.
The doggo felt safe as soon she moved in with Clay and his fiancée, Jenny. She was grateful to her caregivers.
The Doggo’s Backstory
Tappie felt the tides were turning for the better and was quick to show affection.
“She just became really open immediately. Within a few days she was snuggling up with us on the bed,” said Jenny in an interview with GeoBeats Animals.
The couple brought Tappie to the vet, who examined her. The puppy was given a couple of ailments and medicated.
She had no microchip.
After the couple had been alerted by their vet that Tappie was spayed, they assumed the dog had once belonged to somebody.
Jenny had been looking at shelter websites and Facebook pages when she found a photo of Tappie that was snapped one month prior to her fiancé meeting the pup.
The doggo took on its forever home but the locals felt distraught when they found out the pup stopped getting taken care of fairly soon.
Jenny captioned the Instagram post: ‘I can’t understand how anyone could have abandoned this dog… it breaks my heart to think that because she is one of the sweetest, smartest souls I’ve ever met.
Tappie Is So Happy, Girl
Eventually, Clay and Jenny fell in love with Tappie and decided to make her a permanent member of the family.
The pair, who will tie-the-knot in June 2025, say they want to bring the adorable pooch to be at ‘the centre of their family’.
“We love Tappie. Clay told GeoBeats Animals, We have a great time with her and we just wanted her to be part of our family.
Tappie was a scared, neglected puppy but she became healthy and happy and is now living her best like in North Georgia. She adores her parents and the pup enjoys each moment that she is spent cuddling up to them.
Tappie has an Instagram and a TikTok account – the adorable-mommy duo enjoys sharing snippets of their ordinary life.
