On a bright and sunny morning in Lexington, Kentucky animal control officers received several phone calls about an unfortunate Husky trapped inside a sewer drain.
The dog—how had it been there, in this baffling situation.
With so many reports flooding in, the team felt compelled to investigate.
On arrival, they noticed a small puppy nose poking out of a bit of a crack in the concrete.
And this was no ordinary pup — this was Sebastian, deep in a bit of a jam.
The Mystery of Sebastian
Sebastian couldn’t have gotten into the drain — or through one of the other nearby openings — murmur the officers.
They surmised that he had likely crawled in through a pipe and become stuck.
Sebastian was on a tight timeframe, but he looked happy anyway.
In a humorous post on Facebook, rescue team said: ‘Sebastian had always dreamed of meeting the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles but today went eyeball to eyeball with a couple of Animal Control Officers!’
The Rescue Effort
Fueled by this, the team launched into action.
The drain cover was removed so that Sebastian could squiggle out.
He came out smiling as though he’d just returned from an exhilarating day in the country.
His unconventional rescue was clearly something he enjoyed having attention for.
A rep told The Dodo, “He had a blast getting his rescue and was quite comfortable while staying.” “He’d do it again 100% of the time.”
Reunited at Last
Animal control was soon able to reach Sebastian’s worried family, and after many days of searching they were finally reunited with their pet once he had been freed.
His family expressed relief that he was safe, but Sebastian appeared to be more keen on taking in the vibes of his new home at the shelter.

Before long, that anticipated moment everyone had been waiting for finally came: Sebastian happily reunited with his dad.
And the picture depicted their emotions perfectly — Sebastian looking joyful and his father tearing up of joy.
A Happy Ending
Sebastian’s saved the day with his big hearted personality & made everyone’s rescue story even more warm & fuzzy!
This is the happiest of endings, as the rescue said themselves in their post: “We love happy endings!”
Reminiscent of the tales of adventure and reunion we hear from people who find their long lost pets, this story is really about that bond between pets and their families.
But whenever you doubt, love always needs a path home.
This made its rounds in the community, being spread throughout.
Animal control responded quickly, and treated an odd situation with care and humor, which touched people.
Sebastian’s adventure turned into folklore; kids in surrounding schools even pictured him as the superhero of their stories.
His tale not only encouraged many to help pets in need but also demonstrated that adventure sometimes finds YOU when you least expect it.
As for Sebastian? Now that he is back home, he’s living his best life—always ready for more fun!
