Dog rescue is not a one time gig.
So, upon further consideration, this really isn’t a gig. It’s a mission. And when you’re in, you stay under the skin for a lifetime.
California rescuer Suzette Hall has known this for years. But she also knew the emotional toll of seeing dogs discarded and hurt every day.
There were days that she sat in front of the vet clinic feeling both dread and hope for her rescues.
This was one of those days…
Nobody Knew Just How Long She’d Been Laying There
But, as Hall said in a recent phone call standard her office received the other day, “My heart literally broke.
So when a group of employees at a local movie theater in Southern California reached out about a dog lying helpless outside, she came rushing to the rescue.
But what was worse, she had been injured quite badly. The dog seriously could not move. She just had to wait for another person to be sweet and spotted her, that nobody would have noticed.
Hall sprang to the site, aware that time was of the essence for a medical miracle. This was certainly one of those things!
Unfortunately, nobody in particular appeared to know anything about this dog or how long she had suffered like this. Imagine her pain though, it must have been unfathomable.
Unsure of how long she was laying there with a severe injury, that wee. I lifted her tiny self into the car and rushed to my vet. Please, please pray. She is in really bad shape. Hall posted on Facebook, “I can’t even put into words to write anymore.
Naomi was next at the clinic, which opened its doors just for her. The prognosis for her, unfortunately, was not good.
The vets said Naomi has probably darted back under a car in the neighbourhood when the creature ran her over.
An x-ray showed her pelvis shattered on both sides — leaving her paralyzed from the waist down.
To top it all, Naomi was also in extreme pain. She was inoperable, and these hardworking doctors could do nothing.
In the end, that could only mean one thing…
Tragic News
It would be hours later before little Naomi — despite fighting valiantly until the end — passed over the rainbow bridge. Hall’s heart was in shambles when she lost the battle for her life — as were those at the clinic.
“My heart is broken. In an update post, Hall said: “I couldn’t save her. I would have done anything to save her but could not.”
Naomi charmed Hall right away because anyone who spends more than 3 minutes with her can see how truly sweet she is.
“Rest easy sweet, Naomi. You can finally run and play again. Hall would go on to say, “You touched my heart so deeply.
With fond memories of Hall preserved in time, she and her team of kind-hearted rescuers at Logan’s Legacy will continue their efforts.
Knowing that every stray and/or abandoned dog deserves a chance, they will try their hardest to give them at least some hope in this lifetime. As they did for sweet Naomi.
