There are some dogs whose stories will cry out your soul; Tyson is one of those dogs!
When I first heard about this solid senior boi, I didn’t know how to process things for hours. This New York City boi was found in an apartment lying next to his dead owner and, according to those who rescued him – for approximately five days.
The only thing I could think about is how he was doing. Was he afraid? How much time passed before it dawned on him that he was all alone in this world now?
Tyson did not know exactly what was going on, but he did know that something was wrong. And, when the moment finally arrived for this boi to come out and fly from his nest, it shattered his heart into a bazillion gazillion pieces…
Tyson’s Devastating Backstory
Never forget Tyson, he was probably the most devastated, heartbroken doggo I have ever witnessed. It was literally just from the way he crawled in his crate, and he did not come out when the good folks from Twenty Paws Rescue (out of Brooklyn, NY) showed up to pick him up.
He was so frightened and so isolated that he lacked the power to escape. Yet, these veteran rescuers understood that the only remedy for a shattered heart is time!
Instead, they waited until Tyson would understand that they were not going to harm him. Finally, he allowed them to carry him out of his home for many years.
Tyson’s struggling nonetheless, particularly as he’s had to witness willingly as his owner passed away, which couldn’t have been easy. Principle was determined to be anemic and, unfortunately, heartbroken. He wouldn’t eat or play with other dogs, and he stayed in his crate the whole time.
This devastated canine simply needed a human who would understand — enter Laura!
Learning How To Love Again
TPR is happy to introduce Tyson’s perfect foster mom! Big boi Laura, a longtime volunteer and an enormous lover of dogs (head), did everything she could to make this big boi feel comfortable. And a few days later, it felt like she was already negging first base!
Tyson began to eat properly with her soft approach and a little love and attention. He even showered his new mama with the gentlest kisses and cuddled pretty much whenever he got the opportunity.
Eventually, Tyson began going out and playing with other puppies. This guy slowly came out of his shell and made it clear that he was finally ready to trust another hooman.
Sarah’s The One
TPR attempted to contact the family of Tyson’s owner but was told no one could take this lovely boi.
But wait, then along came this woman, Sarah! A lovely animal lover contacted TPR and said she would give Tyson a home for life, which was the best idea in the world!
Tyson instantly took to her as soon as she entered our facility truly how she stole step right into the building!
Y’all, he’s just been through so much and you always wish that for them. Rachel, one of the volunteers, comments about how nice it is when they initially hit it off like this,
He was like melted butter in Sarah’s arms and literally opened his paws and his heart to her!
“I will totally miss him. It’s so sweet though. Laura says, It makes me really happy just to see him happy.
Tyson finding “the one” after so much pain was really emotional and a tear-jerker. Which made Rachel and Laura crying tears of joy as they were so elated that this wonderful dog would have his forever home.
I look forward to embracing him in my life and just seeing him settle in and know, okay, this is my last stop. It is Sarah who states, “this is where I live now, and this is home.
It only took him 4 1/2 years, but Tyson has finally resumed his life and is traveling down the road of happiness with his new momma.
