Every puppy deserves a human who loves them and makes their best effort to see that puppy smile.
Unfortunately, far too many dogs are abused by the very ones who promise to care for and love them for life.
Lotte was a five-month-old puppy, and her heart was filled with sorrow. This little dog got hurt and abused instead of leading a happy life, bustling with wagging of tails and fun.
Even as her ruthless owners treated her worse than anything, Lotte still held out hope that someone would come to help her with her plight.
Tired and weak from relentless hunger, the malnourished puppy waddled her way up to a Texas yard where a woman was hanging out on her front porch and lay down on her porch.
A Good Human Helps Lotte
The good woman was heartbroken when she saw the puppy, later called Lotte, and her horrible condition. The furbaby was also suffering from very bad mange on top of being emaciated.
Some good humans started feeding Lotte, but she wouldn’t eat.
The kind-hearted lady, very worried about the puppy, decided to take her to an animal shelter, Austin Pets Alive.
Lotte was the “one in the morning” that a woman brought to the shelter at 6 a.m., and after meeting one of the shelter’s volunteers, Rene, she asked “if he could take the puppy in.”

Rene was devastated, the chick had no proof of how neglected it had been.
“Starved. Covered in mange. And perma-scarring around her mouth as if it had been taped shut or possibly muzzled for too long of a time, the Austin shelter wrote on Facebook
Austin Pets Alive, however, was not an intake shelter, but the woman made Rene take Lotte in anyway.
The volunteer, heartbroken, extended his hand toward Lotte, trying to let her know that she didn’t need to be alone any longer.

There was trust, and Lotte melted with gratitude.
The Pup Feels Grateful
He kept Lotte in a kennel until he could do something about her. He was going to have to speak to the shelter staff to see what they could do for Lotte.
The hearts of the staff sank to the floor when they first laid eyes on the puppy. The puppy did not have a backstory with them, but her condition pretty much told them everything there was to know.
Luis Sanchez, the director of public relations and communications at Austin Pets Alive, told Newsweek: “It’s hard to know the entire story of her past, but we believe—based on the slow progression of mange, the fact that she is emaciated, and her reluctance to eat—that she was neglected or abused.
Strays run the risk of falling in with the wrong crowd, which is what staff believe happened to Lotte, who was likely fleeing some abusive owner’s house before she was found on a stranger’s porch.
The medical team treated the fur baby urgently. They started taking care of her skin and pampering her skin. The people who took care of Lotte tried to lighten her mood, to help her forget her gloomiest days.

Lotte charmed the staff with her lovely nature after all the terrible things she had suffered from nasty individuals. With eyes filled with love, she looked at them and thanked them for coming to her aid.
The pup started to improve, but she still needed to take it easy for a bit to fully heal.
Once Lotte’s been nursed back to health by her puppy carers, she’ll start her search for a fabulous foster or forever home. This sweet little pooch needs the humans who will shower her with all the love she needs and teach her the joys of the world.
