Which is probably worse than rescuing an adorable and loving dog only for him to get passed up time and again before he is put on the death list.
There is just no rationale out there as to why any perfectly healthy and sweet pooch needs to endure anything like this, try as you might.
Each of them deserves time to find the right family who will love and care for them. This story is about another dog who nearly faced euthanasia before something changed.
An Amazing Rescuer
Jon Mancinetti and his dog, Smokey, decided to make a curious commitment on the road one day.
Wherever we would go, I used to try and visit the shelter and promote the local dog for adoption.
After spending time in a shelter in Memphis, where he met lots of great dogs, it was almost time for him to depart when something happened.
Well, one of the volunteers stopped him and told him about Mosey who had been scheduled to be euthanized that very day.
He went to the dog, and I mean he was instantly just so sweet. He pitied the other guy, who was also just too skinny.
Mancinetti said: He was not going to be adopted in that shelter — no one would walk into a shelter and pick him out based on his looks, but I knew there was beauty behind the dog.
For that reason, he decided at the last moment to bring Mosey out of the Memphis shelter so that he could foster him. But, he needed to make sure and introduce him to his dog Smokey.
As far as Mancinetti was concerned, when the two met in person, it wasn’t immediately clear they’d have any issues.
Mosey’s New Journey
That’s when it hit him that Mosey was coming with him and Smokey on this legendary run.
They went to seven cities and loved it. Mosey especially enjoyed the great outdoors.
Mosey was also doing well, Mancinetti noticed while they were there. His weight had increased quite a bit and his fur was starting to grow out more.
So when Mancinetti had to search for a new family for Mosey, she wasn’t in a hurry to find one. He wanted to ensure the right home was found for this sweet dog.
Fortunately for him, he found a great gal. But when he went to meet them, Mosey’s level of excitement really surprised him.
They’d put a sign by the fireplace that said: Welcome home, Mosey, when he arrived there.
He was immediately introduced to his new canine siblings and family. Ideal for summer camping trips on the beach with all of his children, he fell in love at first sight, and this is his home forever.
Mancinetti was sad that he had to say goodbye to Mosey but happy it was in such great hands.
