Isn’t it funny how doggos are so frequently taken for granted just ’cause they aren’t able to voice their opinions and feelings as we do?
Yet somehow, these cute little furballs teach us some of the greatest life lessons.
Except for puppies, forgetting all of it and moving on definitely seems to be relatively much easier for them because finding the strength to wear a smile after being rejected and ignored the hundredth time is not possible for most such creatures.
A Thousand Words Association — A Boomerang SMILE
Petey is a North Carolina doggie who was known at a local shelter as one of the longest-term living members, despite being hardly an “”adult”” at the tender age of one year.
His charm may have come in handy with the people at the rescue, but it didn’t impress potential foster homes.
Petey was already a big dog, and the local shelter was at capacity, which left them with no choice but to call the SPCA of Wake County, who immediately responded and came to take the pup.
The SPCA had ample room to keep Petey for an extended time, but they truly wished it wasn’t going to take another year before the puppy found a home.
As everyone else around felt bad that Petey had such a sad fate, he was feeling perfectly fine. As Samantha Ranlet, a spokeswoman for Wake County’sCounty’s SPCA, told The Dodo, staff at the organization quickly fell in love with this fellow for his upbeat demeanor and willingness to meet strangers:
“”He was extremely friendly from day one, extremely playful […] We just couldn’tcouldn’t believe nobody wanted him.””
But then, a miracle happened.
Time To Say Goodbye
Petey’s new parents reached out to the SPCA through social media, where they’d first seen a picture of him after just a few weeks. It was love at first sight, as Petey was just as thrilled to meet his new owners as they were to meet him.
Knowing what a sweet boy he was at both shelters, we knew he would be just as well-behaved in his new home. In a Facebook post, the SPCA shared the impressions of Petey’sPetey’s new parents:
“”Petey is doing wonderful in his forever home. He enjoys sleeping in bed, playing fetch, and sniffing around the yard. He loves to play with his new brother and any other doggy friend he can find. He’s just perfect ❤️ Petey is so loving and starting to really open up and show us his beautiful personality. I am so happy to have him. ❤️””
Petey’s jubilation and affection for his new owners, home, and all that greeted him were captured too, including an image of him asleep, with a big smile on his face, knowing he was finally home.
