This is not the first millionth time I have said this and definitely will not be the last but animals are more than pets.
They literally spend so much time with us that they start seeing us as their BFFs and part of the family! Come home after even just an hour away, and you can see how much your pet has missed you.
They begin to jump around, showering you with hugs and kisses. Now think about how difficult things could be for them when their family makes a choice that they do not want them anymore in their life.
A Heartbreaking Story
Makaira Lebo, a resolute dog rescuer, witnessed one of the worst things that could happen to a pup today.
Lebo discovered a pup while working with the homeless population and she brought them to the local shelter. In a parking lot, she even spotted an owner and her pup who was in really bad shape.
Millie, the puppy, was trembling and cowering behind her owner as she began to realize that things were amiss.

Lebo was super stressed because she would later discover Millie was actually being surrendered to the shelter at that very moment. Libo tried to raise awareness of what was going on by filming the entire thing and uploading it onto her TikTok.
This is how your pup looks when you bring it to the shelter because you failed your dog. Being frightened, trembling, bewildered and concerned. They have not idea what they did wrong,’ the text overlay in the video read.
Millie was surrendered after it was found she wasn’t actually getting on with her previous owners boyfriend. Millie even began to wonder what she could have done so wrong as her owner picked her boyfriend over the pup.
But sadly, Millie is not the only pup with such a future.
“Daily we witness that wherever, Lebo said: ‘While I was there, a senior dog with hip dysplasia came in on wheels; the owner could not afford surgery.
However, this luck was unlike any other because the moment the clip went viral, so many adopters applied for him that he got himself a home in less than 48 hours after being surrendered!
The Tacoma Humane Society has since weighed in on the discussion, reiterating that life is not always so rosy.
Maybe now is not a passing statement but one that makes sense: “We know it can be tough to see your pet in discomfort. We hope that people will do NOT spend their time condemning the owner who posted there as much as we would want them To not speak about this being such a thing. Rather that they acknowledge how essential the shelter is and it should be an asset in our community when bringing out during your worst times and needs, the shelter stated.
Final Word
Even if every single person inside a shelter does everything they can do to make the animals feel happy and healthy, it still is not that simple.
For some of our furry friends, especially the newcomers, the shelter is a very loud and uncomfortable place.
If not given the right room to chill and unwind they can create some behavioral problems, which makes it tough for those animals to get a forever home.
So, as hoomans we need to try and adopt or foster as many of them as we can — giving them the space they need to prosper. Because after all, this is what they deserve.
