He and his siblings were separated from their mother at a tender age. Their breders, disappointed that the puppies weren’t purebre d Pit Bulls, abandoned them at a South Carolina shelter, leaving them hud dled in a cardboard box, longing for warmth and affection.
A New Life
Fate intervened when the shelter staff took them in, recognizing the urgency of their situation. Given that it was a kill shelter, time was of the essence. Thankfully, Ollie’s Angels Animal Rescue, a non-profit organization in New York, stepped up to take the puppies under their wing.
In 2021, Steven and Jessica decided it was the right time to expand their family by adopting a dog. They visited Ollie’s Angels, where a tan Pit Bull puppy named Koby immediately caught their eye. There was something special about him that drew them in.
“The first time we got to hold h im, he just sunk in our ars,” Steven shared with GeoBeats Animals. It was clear that Koby felt an instant connection with them as well.
Bringing Koby home marked the beginning of a beautiful journey. Like any puppy adjusting to a new environment, Koby had trouble sleeping during his first few nights. Wanting to comfort him, Steven and Jessica bought him a stuffed animal that was warm and had a heartbeat, mimicking the feeling of being close to his mother. It worked wonders—Koby found solace in the toy and began to settle in.
Koby’s loving personality soon blossomed. He adored snuggling on the couch with his dad and was never far from his parents’ sides. His eyes spoke volumes. “It’s like looking at a pe rson. You know exactly what h e’s feelin g just based on his eyes alone,” Jessica remarked.
Before Koby entered their lives, Steven didn’t realize just how affectionate Pit Bulls could be. Koby shattered any misconceptions they might have had about the breed. They poured all their love into raising him, and in return, Koby gave them his whole heart.

“He’s becom e such an important part of my every day. If I have a tough day at work, it’s nice coming home to a beautiful wife, but it’s al so nice coming home to somebo dy that you know is guaranteed gonna greet you with excite ment and hugs and kisses,” Steven said.
Koby’s life continued to flourish as he embraced his role as a big brother to his new human sibling. He watches over her with the same love and protectiveness he shows his parents. He e ven shares adorable updates on his Instagram about his dream life with his family.
