Reading many rescue stories, one element is common to all — the fact that so many dogs ultimately have to go through hell due to other humans.
I don’t know what it is about people that there are people who think they can just injure or abuse other dogs scott free. Absolutely baffling how anyone could hurt an innocent dog.
Kahlua was no exception. Now this even though she was sweetest dog ever she was struck by horrible tragedy.
She was in a bad car accident and had a lot of internal injuries. It looked as though she had lost all hope, but her finders wanted to give her a better chance at enjoying the life she had despite her part in this tragedy.
A Hopeful Rescue
Kahlua here was in horrible shape when she was first rescued off the streets of Virginia. It appeared her leg was badly damaged and they had little chance of saving it.
The clinic quickly accepted her, and she underwent a thorough examination there to ensure they had the correct diagnosis.
When it became clear her front left leg couldn’t be saved, they opted to amputate. She also had a broken pelvis, but that wasn’t anything too scary.”
The rescuers did the surgery at the right time, and he did great. Now Kahlua was on the mend and going to make it.
It was going to take her some time, and she would have to learn a different way of walking, but Kahlua was undeterred.
With the support of her veterinarians, she was making gradual but definite progress toward her goal, but she was very persistent all the way.
Kahlua Meets Her New Dad
She would change slowly, and when her mood lightened up … it was almost like she — it was like a huge burden off her back, and she was doing a lot better.
She had come so far in a short amount of time and gone through so much, yet every day, she blossomed and wanted to play more.
The rescuers were heartened by her progress and high hopes that they would be able to find her a new home in Virginia.
Later, her health would significantly improve, and the rescuers considered that she would be suitable to place on the adoption list.
As the stars aligned, Kahlua got connected to her new dad, who chose to adopt her so that she’d get her chance to live her life in her forever home.
Despite everything this dog has had to go through, Kahlua’s happy personality reminds us of how strong she is, and how much it matters for her to be with her special person. I am thrilled that all turned well for her. She deserves it.
