Stranger discovered a tiny, struggling puppy abandoned in a public restroom, barely able to walk and clearly needing help

It generally takes a lot to genuinely make me angry, but nothing crushes my heart like those tiny pups left on the road by the people that were supposed to love them. Honestly, too many dogs are left out there on their own – which is a very sad story that needs to become a much bigger chapter in dog education.

Now about Hugo, a little boy who was left in the pordy of a public restroom in Florida as only five weeks old. Can you imagine? Abandoned so young.

Hugo’s Story

Hugo was with his litter when rescuers discovered him. But soon realised that he was acting strangely. His two sisters were perfectly normal, Hugo could not walk at all – he was unable to use his back legs.

His two sisters were absolutely normal and he is unable to walk.” as Karey J. Burek told The GeoBeats Animals His back legs were useless.

Fortunately, Hugo found a very lucky break in medical foster Karey of Florida who works with dogs with severe traumas or paralysis. She then figured that Hugo should stay with her until he found a permanent place to live.

But in Hugo’s first week with her, Karey saw him begin to have seizures. Worried, she brought him to a neurologist. Spinal inflammation that was causing his seizures — MRI findings they initially overlooked. Along with that, he had some neurological and immune issues which made it near impossible for him to be a regular puppy.

Karey had no idea if he would even live through it. It was so sad honestly.

Amazing Improvements

But then, as if something more positive were needed. Stopped Karey from providing him the very best treatment he could get and it worked on a treat.

That everything that is wrong with him is what I think makes him right, it makes him who he is,” she said.

Eventually, Hugo made a complete recovery. He can actually run almost like a normal dog now! And with so much more, however he is managed to maintain such an incredibly sweet disposition and anyone who has met him just adores him.

Karey said, “People have to meet him and see him and realize even though he is a little bit different and has mobility challenges, he is 100% love and it is ok to be different.”

However, the bond between them was unbreakable, so even though she signed up to foster Hugo only at first. Now that she has him in her life, she just can not imagine it without him.

It’s so beautiful to see them together. Despite the possibility that his life span could potentially be shorter than other dogs, this does not deter Karey from making his every single day a better one. And she is committed to ensuring he has the best chance going forward so that he can continue enjoying exploring and spending time with those who love him most.

And it is stories such as Hugo’s that remind me of the resilience of animals, and how far kindness and dedication can go. According to the ASPCA, about 3.3 million dogs are brought into shelters each year in the U.S. Most have specific needs, like Hugo.

Thanks again to all the Kareys of this world, who open their hearts and homes to animals in need. It’s a sweet sentiment that drives home the point of how even with the chaos that life provides true love will always last through it all.
