It’s just so disheartening to be reminded of how certain puppy owners are so cruel to their delightful puppies, instead of giving them all love and affection. They dump them without feeling even a little bit of remorse. Today’s story is about Malea, a sweet dog who has also been dumped in a hot dumpster, having been betrayed by a person who left her in the dumpster with the lid closed. That person did not care what happened to her after that.
This poor dog simply waited for good people to rescue her and give her all the love she so desperately needed.
Rescuers Rush To Save Sweet Pittie
One sensitive soul witnessed the nightmarish scene in a Missouri neighborhood and called Stray Rescue of St. Louis asking for help.
The rescue team was joined by Donna Lochmann, the chief life-saving officer, who immediately came to its aid.
Immediately upon arriving at the scene, they opened the dumpster lid to find a pair of the sweetest eyes staring back at them.
The merry dog began to work her tail, a smile on her face. She was happy that someone came for her; that somebody cared.
The rescuers became relieved and pleased that the dog was fine. They tried holding back the tears, really saddened that a person was capable of being so cruel towards an innocent pup. “We tried to hold back tears, but this really choked us up. It was so hot inside; we’re thankful she didn’t pass out,” Stray Rescue Louis wrote on their Facebook.
They didn’t even want to think about what might have happened if that dog had stayed much longer in that hot dumpster.
Malea Gets Showered With Love During Her Freedom Ride
She jumped into the dumpster and started to pet the Pittie, later named Malea. So she put a leash around her neck and then lifted Malea out of the dumpster.
They took this beauty to the car and headed to St. Louis to the shelter. Malea was so appreciative of her heroes and continued giving them kisses, licking their faces. Lochmann cuddled her close, telling her that she mattered and that she had a life worth living.
“You’re a beautiful girl. You do not belong in the trash heap, you are not garbage, you are NOT garbage. No. You’re a beautiful girl. Your life has meaning. Yes, it does.”
Malea leaned on the shoulder of her rescuer. She felt safe.
During that trip to the shelter, they got another call from two puppies who needed their urgent care; they were abandoned, dumped in a parking lot downtown.
They immediately went to the address and picked up the two beautiful puppies, who were so delighted to see them. They headed directly to the shelter after the rescue.
Searching for a Loving Home
Since the shelter was full at that time, the puppies went to foster care, and Malea was placed into the shelter’s Rovernight program—that program is for people who want to have a dog in their home for a few days. “She is in a loving home getting spoiled! She also gets along great with other dogs and is very gentle with little kids, too,” Natalie Thomson, the rescue’s Director of Marketing. All three get a lot of love and attention. Now they are looking for their forever home. We are pretty sure that they will find a home full of love that they have been dreaming about. And they do deserve to be treated as treasures since such puppies are real treasures.
Malea’s story is one of those that remind us once more that it is very important to take action every time we see an animal in distress. A call to a rescue service or to a shelter close by our homes can make all the difference and save a precious life. We are so grateful to this Good Samaritan who called rescue after he saw a person deposit Malea inside a dumpster. Thankful he did, because Malea was just in time to be saved.
