And so it is for stray canines, who live day by day in the hope that someone will take the trouble to look at them and provide assistance and safety and security.
Too many humans treat these homeless pups as if they were invisible, unworthy of love and care — even at the point of death — and this makes me really sad.
While it’s a long wait for these stray canines, they never lose faith in being rescued.
They are waiting for good humans who will be kind and compassionate, the way they needed thousands of times before when they were born of violence.
Hoping to receive the help he desperately needs very soon, Nico is one of the stray dogs that know what its like to spend your days out in the cold. He gazed far away with a sad look on his pretty face — hungry and alone.
A Good Human The Pup Was Waiting For
Luckily for him, the ever-experienced Donna Lochmann, who works as the chief operations officer at Stray Rescue of St. Louis, a shelter in Missouri, was there to help.
The minute she first laid eyes on him — sitting outside a family home with his eyes staring sadly down the road — her heart broke. His ribs protruded for lack of what to feed him.
Lochmann received a warm welcome as soon as she said hello to the doggo.
As soon as he heard her voice, he began wagging his tiny tail, looking through the doggy door and walking with head bent toward her. It was almost like he knew she was there to help him.
When Lochmann examined her, he realized his back paw was hurt.
She cuddled with her little furry boy and he melted in her arms. He sat down next to her, where he laid his head on her leg as she stroked him, thankful someone was finally being nice to him and showing him love. He waited so long for that moment.
The dog gazed at Lochmann with his big, soulful eyes full of gratitude. She was aware that a leash did not need to be placed around his neck.
The pup, who would later go by the name Nico New Beginnings, was so excited to leave his previous life of misery on the street and be with her.
Lochmann helped him into her Jeep. This dog was so excited and his tail never stopped wagging.
He knelt in the passenger seat, and she burrowed in beside him. For the first time Nico felt safe, and he was soaking up the love from his rescuer. He was making himself all prepared for the ride of his freedom.
Finally, Nico Receives The Appreciation He Deserved All Along
Nico melted the hearts of the shelter workers at the St. Louis shelter the very moment he stepped inside.
Those eyes that seem to look into your soul made all of us melt, the staff wrote on Facebook.
The ones at the shelter gave him extra love and snuggles. Nico was happy to be in the company of people who cared. The sweet canine seemed content, and he was aware they would assist him in his recovery.
Nico will be placed into a foster home as soon as he is medically cleared.
We cant wait for him to start putting on weight and to blossom into a carefree dog that is living life to the full. I know that before long Nico is going to capture the heart of his forever family and they are going to love him endlessly!
