When rescuers found this adorable stray dog with a swollen face, they were completely stunned!

The rescuers at The Animal Pad, who are based in San Diego, received a text message with a photo of the stray dog arriving at that location with her swollen face.

The kind folks responded, arrived and found a forlorn pup who would later be named Marvel.

The hearts of the good humans sank when he looked at them with his beautiful sad green eyes.

His rescuers were as dedicated to doing anything they could for him.

Saving Two Friends

The nice ones wanted to chase the hopelessness from Marvel’s eyes — and to give him a second kick at happiness.

Another pup, Captain, remained beside Marvel and did his best to cheer him up.

But Captain was also in need—he had a Transmissible Venereal Tumor (TVT).

The rescuers gave reassuring pats to the canines on their backs and reassured them that things would change for better.

They were picked up and transported into a car.

Captain is also confused; he has no idea what is going on with Marvel.

While the rescue group rushed the pups to a hospital in San Diego, they repeatedly couldn’t figure out what was wrong with Marvel’s face.

The reason behind the dog facial swelling was unknown to anyone.

One of the most heartbreaking details The Animal Pad spotted while working to help Arby was this: “We don’t know & probably will never know whether it is a dog bite or wound gone wrong, some sort of major infection, TVT (tumor) he contracted from his friend Captain..,”

Marvel was brought to ER once they landed and Captain remained with the hospital personnel. Captain was a good lil boi and captured the hearts of the staff.

The doctor looked at Marvel and did X-ray on his abscessed face.

They found that the face-lift-paw would need an operation.

The Animal Pad — On April 18th, 2024 The Animal Pad posted an update on Instagram about Marvel’s condition.

We still don’t know what caused this, and have some cultures pending, but thankfully it seems completely resolved! Marvel had surgery where they removed tissue which was causing inflammation to his face and neck, and this greatly helped with his condition immediately,” the rescue noted.

Captain began treatment for TVT, and he was doing quite well.

The little sucker was in a great mood. He was secure and content getting the love and attention he had always craved.

Somewhere To Be Home

It also meant she and her bestie missed seeing each other for quite a while post-surgery.

When the day of their reunion finally came, Marvel and Captain could hardly contain it. The doggos ran into one another pet. And so they were leaping up and down full of joy that they had seen each other after a long time.

Hug after hug and kiss after kiss they covered each other.

The pups are looking for humans who will love them with all their hearts, too, and will show them how wonderful life is.

Lastly my hope is that the sweet pups live out their ultimate goal and find love.
