I always had a thing for puppies. Maybe they start with those awkward first crawls, or their sweet little faces, or perhaps that indescribable toddler sass.
So, every time I spot one in distress, my heart breaks just a little.
A few days ago, a woman went to pieces when she found an itty-bitty fur ball by the side of the road. There was his lifeless body on the ground, where he had been left totally starved and without any sight of his mother.
The genuinely horrified woman thought to herself right then and there that she should do something about it.
She Thought He Was Dead
The kind-hearted woman thought the pup might not be alive during those first few moments. He looked like he had already crossed over the rainbow bridge, as he would not move at all.
Then, she saw it!
The newborn was still alive, although weak. There was still a hope of her saving him and she didn’t delay any further.
Without hesitating, she grabbed him and brought him home.
Wrapped in a blanket and getting the first, barely discernible tentative touch from another living being, the little canine began to show life.
A few minutes earlier, even the idea of this would have seemed like utterly hopeless; now it was a miracle turning point.
He slowly but surely searched for his mother’s milk to breastfeed so he could fix himself.
A woman with a job around the corner fed him with formula day and night, monitoring the pup’s weight. She stayed by his side in the coming days – and it showed. He had come quite a distance on his own already!
Look, He Crawls!
It was quite fulfilling to watch the pup starting to crawl, and the woman felt overjoyed when she finally saw her little rescue standing on his four legs.
The first time he walked into his new house, she knew he was going to be one hell of a dog!
It was just his curiosity about literally everything, and that was hauntingly cute. He was roaming the whole house, the life came back in him and he started to play.
It was a few years later as an adult, when the woman took him for his first worm treatment.
But first, after all of the diagnosis and treatment, it was time for him to learn socialization. And, who better to alleviate that then another pet?
And the family cat that belonged to his new mama was ready to introduce itself to its new bro. They played together, cuddled a lot and had the cutest/sassiest chase around the house for hours.
They bonded immediately and become best friends.
However, for the pup life was not limited to indoors. His rescuer frequently walked him and took him for playdates in the park every day.
He made a host of friends along the way, and he grew into an affable dog who loved every minute of his new life.
Remarkable Transformation
This little, helpless creature turned into the cutest dog months later.
Legs that were once weak, and a body that was once clumsy are now those of one powerful pup with endless amounts of energy and stubbornness. Still, his smiling face screams “puppy” all the same,
Even as an adult that sweet boi retained the spirit of puppyhood from his youth.

Now, he walks and goes on play dates and meets new friends and cuddles with his new human and lives a happy full life.
The puppy once in distress and waiting for his inevitable demise is as far from that roadside as he could possibly be. As well he has a nice family and home and many memories to come!
