Two tiny pups were in dire circumstances after they had been dumped into a California park.
Beneath a bench, they set one another with their comfort of hope that their owners would return for them.
But these dogs soon realized that they were abandoned — the reality began to sink in as time wore on. And so their spirits were stifled and sorrow corrupted their hearts.
A Kind Stranger Steps In
A Good Samaritan eventually spotted the sad pair lounging there one day.
She wanted to help so she left them a towel, food and water.
The pups experienced a flicker of gratitude for her good nature and started to feel that perhaps, someone might show up to come and find and rescue them.
They waited and each day turned into another, their little hearts filled with doubt.
They perked up at the slightest rustle of leaves or sound in the distance, assuming all hopes were alive that someone comes to take them home.
However, each day as the sun slipped below the horizon, so did their hopes.
Rescue Mission Begins
The woman posted their entanglement on social media requesting some assistance.
When Arturo Flores, a local volunteer with Logan’s Legacy 29 in Irvine, California, came across the post he immediately got to work.
He packed up his stuff and made a beeline to the park as he planned to save both strays.
As soon as he arrived, he saw them. The dogs lay on the towels staring into the distance like they were waiting for a miracle.
Flores moved in slowly, speaking softly to build rapport. As one of the pups froze in terror, the other appeared prepared to accept assistance instantly.
Building Trust
Flores first catches the more trusting pup, and then lays out treats for the frightened one.
The frightened pup wanted to be saved but didn’t end up going. He watched from afar as his friend basked in the light of affection.
The rescuer, who was very kind at first, gave attention to the dog and that started to calm the scared puppy down.
A Change of Heart
The frightened puppy then saw how softly Flores treated his friend.
He missed having some of that love come his way too.

After some time, however, the terrified pup let his guard down and allowed Flores to take him in.
When Hall had arrived to pick them up, both dogs gave her thankful eyes.
A Safe Journey Ahead
The pups cuddled together in the car as they drove to the vet. Now that they were rescued, they felt okay now.
“And they sat down on one another and fell asleep. Hall said, “I know they were just exhausted but so glad someone showed up.
This felt like a moment for them, one where their lives were going to certainly move in a new and better direction together. As their new journey started with each passing moment, hope grew in their hearts again.
They were not alone anymore — they had each other and friends that felt like family. After they were rescued, they all began their lives inside the shelter − exploring as they settled into their new surroundings.
Each wag of their tails indicated joy was returning. Day by day, with volunteer and staff love and care, these pups began to see the dawn of brighter days.
