This amazing woman took in an unwanted black pit bull and turned her life into a real-life fairytale

There are numerous biases in this world, and a lot of them are linked to animals, particularly dogs. The stereotype that Pit Bulls are an unadoptable breed is arguably the most prevalent and widely accepted.

This has led to a point that most people will not even be open to potentially adopt a Pittie so these poor guys, they are often left to survive on their own.

But there are some folks who actually seem to understand that not everyone is the same — case in point, one such woman by name of Caitlyn, who took one little Pittie home on somewhat of a whim.

She changed her life forever…

Hard Times Ahead

Liv, the Pit Bull, was discovered on the streets in an emaciated state, her belly sagging from frequent breeding, with ears bent backward (maybe from a failed crop).

But Caitlyn immediately fell in love with her due to her sad eyes — the perfect reminder of everything she had endured, from Charlotte, North Carolina.

Caitlyn already had a Pit Bull at her home in Charlotte, but this stunning little Pittie was too much for her to resist. Before long, she decided that she would be her foster mom.

We have begun our next adventure, but this one is not a road trip! We are fostering Liv! Formidable: “❤️” she captioned the post. We are still in adjustment mode with this sweet girl She is super skittish & timid, yet wants to be in my lap & will literally hold my hand all day long!”

Her experience — both maternal and past — is likely why her adaptation has been so hellish. But then everything fell into place after a while.

“Little Baby Liv, big HEART ❤️ LITTLE Liv may be small but she is HUGE HEARTED. I have seen her change in under a week with us from a trembling pup that hardly wagged her tail to one who is already humping Tot, shoving him out the door first and running through the house with toys she stole from Tot.” In another Instagram post, Caitlyn wrote.

Now, you might be asking: who is Tot? And that, perhaps, is the most beautiful thing in this story.

Ticket to a Happy Life

Caitlyn told GeoBeats Animals: “She would not go on walks until I started taking Tater Tot on the walks with us.”

I am sure you recall we mentioned at the start that Caitlyn already has a Pit Bull at home. Well, that’s Tater Tot.

Liv and Tot were inseparable within days of that first love at first sight moment. They got along so well not just for the same breed but also because they both have undergone through the same adversities in life. Tater Tot was also one of our rescue dogs.

But the most astounding part of the whole story was that Tater Tot is a rather choosy dog — he is not very friendly toward other dogs (with a few select exceptions and some who he will eventually warm up to, but usually, especially new dogs, not so much).

The sentence in my output was rephrased to: “Doing their meet & great (after this) I was beyond terrified.” One night, she unwittingly was down to her gate. Here is what Caitlyn shared in her post on Instagram: “It landed on my foot & I could barely walk 🤣 it hurt sooo bad and bruised almost my whole foot so bad my foot went almost black & I couldn’t walk for a week 💩”. She ran out to greet Tot, and they ran off playing as I prayed it wouldn’t become a fight, and the rest is history!

Even though Liv was already included as family, she still was not technically out of the foster home. Her love for Tot was the last straw for Caitlyn to change this Pitties life for good.

And from that day forward, Liv was no longer Liv but Sweet Pea, as her new mom referred to her. However, most importantly, she was the last “becoming” full family member.

That black Pit Bull was finally home.

Blooms By Her Favorites

Sweet Pea has undergone as many as five surgeries since arriving at her new home. Her face was one of her most noticeable scars that she bore for many years.

The last operation that healed that wound was, of course, successful; with that, all of her past life scars vanished, and so began in earnest a new life filled with a great deal more happiness.

Sweet Pea grew to be a sweet and loving companion despite her traumatic beginnings. She likes to rest her paws on her mom, get head pats and support her friends and family when they are sad. Family means the world to her.

Caitlyn told GeoBeats Animals, “To this day, she will not go outside for a ‘walk’ unless the three of us are together”. “I don’t care if the TV is on, I don’t care what is going on as long as I am next to her or Tater Tot is next to her.

This loving triad frequently went to Caitlyn’s mom’s office, with its huge field for the canine companions to run in. Sweet Pea would romp with her sibling for a brief time frame, then, at that point, stand faithfully alongside her mom or granny. And even when off lead, she would never wander far from her humans.

After all the suffering she has been through, this Pittie dug through the leftover atom of energy to pull through and overcome all the issues. Her main motivator was her family, without them, her life would definitely not matter

However, the best part of all is that this black pit bull proved to the world that love trumps all; it trumps prejudice, and it wins every single time.

All it takes is finding the right people.
