The dogs, like people, feel freedom to desire.
A dogs paradise is in a large open area, chasing after its favourite toys and basking in the glow of the sun.
But for Bruno, this dream seemed very far removed from fantasy. Bruno was first confined in a small room without being able to go out before arriving at a shelter.
His world was filled with darkness and he sat in remnants of horrible at a distance every single day. Bruno embodied the painful truth of neglect — a victim of his human caretakers, who had starved and abused him.
His new mom told GeoBeats Animals: ‘Most of his life he was locked in a room…this room that he was never, ever let out of.
Confined in this circle of gloom, Bruno was familiar with neither love nor freedom.
Just when it seemed hope was just around the corner, things went downhill. That also escalated when his family moved and brought him along.
The Struggles Continue
Bruno was now tormented in a different way, tied up outside on a choke chain.
The cringe continues as he explains that his food included left-over scraps and even pizza boxes made out of cardboard. He was left with no other option but to sleep rough on cold concrete until he fashioned a temporary bed from old beer boxes.
For Bruno, life became a constant struggle and striving to live with an endless suffering. The hardest part? His owners cared not a wit for his welfare.
Enter the rescuers who would change everything for him. Finally they got involved and took Bruno to a rescue centre, where he got the treatment he deserves.
What this lovely Staffy actually craved, however, was a home filled with love.
A New Beginning
By sheer coincidence, Bruno’s adopted mom read about his sad history and felt an immediate bond.
She still mourned the recent loss of her beloved dog, Enzo, but knew Bruno was meant to be with her family.
And she was absolutely right!
Bruno was everyone’s childhood shocker after arriving at his new home. And in a matter of days, he became the sweetest boy shedding his past.
His new family are delighted to see him wag his tail again.
On Instagram, his mum said: “We know the terrors he has encountered in his little lifetime but seeing him loving and living loud – is really a best bit of all time.
They learned that the simplest of pleasures were essential for Bruno to flourish. A video posted to Instagram showed everything that made him happy: food, cuddling, squeaky toys and going outside.
He was not yet in this world when all these delights passed me by, so every moment with him is more precious than the last.
Adventures Await
Bruno and his family have an adventure everyday.
They hike and travel to see new sites, and meet other furry friends.
Having been through all this, Bruno has definitely healed and knows the meaning of freedom!
Survival is just a part of Bruno’s story, rediscovery and joy are the other parts. Now he enjoys every minute outside — the wind in his fur when racing through fields or chasing squirrels.
