It brings me to tears thinking about all the dogs that were not loved unconditionally at all times and treated poorly their entire lives.
Trixie had SO MUCH LOVE to give — but her humans did not deserve her.
Her owners boxed her heartlessly, and she was deprived of the happiness that a doggo should enjoy in life.
The neglected pup didn’t allow herself to lose her spirit? All she ever dreamt about was her freedom and the chance to have a taste of love.
The day her world changed forever, Trixie soared with hope-filled excitement that the good people of this planet would find her and let her be free when her owners left without her.
Freedom At Last
Luckily, the rescuers discovered Trixie and cut her loose.
She has been taken in by Heartland Animal Shelter, near Chicago.
Her condition was so awful the first time the staffers saw her, they were saddened to tears.
Trixie was neglected. The dog was left with bald patches and had duck feet because she’d been kept in a cage for so long.
Trixie was stressed and reactive to other dogs, so it became apparent she would struggle living in the shelter. It was high time she found a place of her own.
David Nulud was hoping to do something special for his girlfriend, Nikolai Therese on her birthday and thought about adopting their first dog.
He came across Trixie while scanning through the shelters’ pages and he hit it off.
He brought her home and as soon as she arrived, clicked with her new mommy. Therese and Nulud wanted to make Trixie feel loved, so they showered her with affection.
Harper felt liberated from her kennel and finally free!
When we first brought her home, it was almost as if she took a deep breath and just exhaled. Right now she just sighed a breath of relief that not only would she have some peace and quiet but somewhere safe. According to Nulud, She was at her home.
Cuddles are all Trixie knows because her family had hand-fed her and waited on her paws. They wanted to earn her trust and be a dog who lives life.
The owners of the pup trained her and reduced her anxiety so that she was not as reactive to other dogs.
Receiving All The Love
Gradually, thanks to their patience and all the love they showered her with, Trixie began to make progress and came to understand that she was free.
Then, her face lit up with a pretty smile. Thing is, she was ready for a fresh start.
She desired her parent’s affection and she always wanted to stay or be near them. She snuggled up to them, squeezed them for all the love they were worth.
Trixie was living her best life. The pooch enjoyed sunbathing in the garden and snoozing away in her Forever Home.
She is no longer so exuberantly reactive to other dogs.
When she finally became the dog Trixie was meant to be, her parents were ecstatic.
Trixie’s Dream Life
Nulud and Therese have all their hearts for the dog and the way he loves the kid. Trixie is even said to have made them better parents for their son.
Our baby is 4 and half months old and Trixie has been brilliant with him. Nulud added: “Because she has taught us how to look after her and we treat her as a daughter also, so in that way she’s made better parents andbetter human beings.”
Trixie has come a long way but still gets spooked at loud noises
Though she has suffered much in life, she meets everyone with gentleness and love.
Trixie’s parents say they feel fortunate to have Trixie in the family.

Trixie is full time living her dream in Illinois. The dog frequently posts about her daily life on her Instagram and campaigns for shelter dogs, finding them a home.
