If there is one thing I have always respected about dogs, it is their intelligence and the will to fight any battle that they need to if that means it’s a matter of survival.
You see, most of us do not think about all the trouble a stray pup goes through every single day just to find food, which is why we do not understand their problems.
Despite such small ruminations, I have always admired their persistence and it is something we all must do well to learn from.
For instance, this lovely pooch was doing his best to get through each day. She battled many health issues but always held hope for a better day ahead.
She had been spotted by some rescuers from Stray Rescue of St. Louis who noticed her on an old mattress next to a shot up, abandoned building and it was something they couldn’t just let go without action.
She Desperately Wanted Help
When they jumped out of their car to see how she was, they knew that what had happened to her was horrendous.
Her mattress was disgusting and the nearby building had been boarded up so she couldn’t go inside, anywhere for the night.
Upon evaluation by a rescuer, her condition was confirmed as a case of very advanced mange. Plus, she was underfed and very hungry.
So they saw how happy she was to see them. They seemed to be friendly as her tail wagged all the time they were with her.
Blush, as she is now called, understood that these folks had come to give her a chance at a new life and she was most willing to accept.
The St. Louis shelter took her back, but she needed a medical foster home where someone would monitor her nonstop until she was healed.
She Is Changing So Fast
They got all her meds and put her in a new foster. Those medical baths are administered every three days to help her get through mange quickly.

In the short time with her foster mom, she has proved to be as sweet as ever. Blush is a very big cuddle bug and enjoys having their other people around.
My mom got her really nice weather gear for this and look how cute she looks. Blush, given time and attention, is beginning to shift.
The mange is going away and she has also gained some weight. Her progress speaks for itself, everyone can see how amazing she is doing day by day.
She still gets regular checkups from her rescuers, who are happy to visit because she loves to show how grateful she is for being rescued.
After everything she went through alone when I look at Blush’s face, I just feel such a relief that she found someone to help her navigate the path of learning how to love again.
With these opportunities provided by her foster mum, we’re sure to have some wonderful heart-melting moments with this perfect pooch as she continues to blossom.

We don’t know what happened with Blush and whether or not she had found a new family, but it is just nice to hear that she appears to be doing well and will hopefully shortly be bound for her forever home.
