They are not so rarely called “mortal enemies,” but the fact is – cats and dogs are not as deadly of rivals as you might think.
According to Menchetti et al., increasing numbers of the residents live together under one roof. 1, in which more than 60 percent of family doggos and their kitty companions sleep next to each other and romp around together.
Here is one of those cute associations that was filmed, and it includes a canine who responded when his feline friend pal fell into the water. Seeing the kitty in trouble, this doggo performs the absolute best action ever!
Getting her out of the wall
In the footage, one of those animals, whose politics is swimming for her life and clinging to an object with all her strength at that moment — a half-sunken cat in water. Clearly horrified and stunned, she tried to figure out how to escape.
However, a dog appears on the wall of what is actually a fish pond and just goes barking to help his feline buddy escape!
At first, he attempts to pull her with his jaws, but as soon as he realizes that is not happening — he into the water, he goes; who knows what risks!
Jumping Into The Water
And before you know – he is in the water, with his cat on his back, paddling to make an exit. Sure enough, the loyal man risked life and limb to save a neighbour in need, thus demolishing the myth of sworn enemies that are cats and dogs.
Within a couple of minutes, he manages to grab hold of the bank, and both he and the cat escape safely.
There is a split second there, where you can tell the cat was still in shock of what just happened. Except, in the very next moment she is all OK too, leaping off the fishpond wall like it never happened!
A Successful Rescue
The miraculous rescue was filmed and the video spread like wildfire on social media, bringing a heartwarming moment to millions around the world!
Though many commenters were pleased to see a kind doggo doing his best to save the needy cat friend, some questioned why the person filming it all didn’t attempt to rescue either animal.
However, this cat was finally on solid ground now, thanks to an amazing gesture of canine friendship from a dog that naturally came to the rescue! Was he a trained boi, socialized so well that there was no hesitation to engage – or just instinctual desire – it doesn’t matter!
The important thing is that the dog and cat are both ok now. Oh, and I bet they stayed friends too!
