His whole life, Papi has been a hunting dog.
He lived many adventures with his hooman and made amazing memories. Papi was an older man and over the passing months, his ability to hunt had faded. He was slowing down a little and losing his sight, too.
While he was still one of the best hunting dogs his owner ever had, he went ahead and surrendered him because in his eyes he was ‘useless’.
Fortunately for all of us, Natalie heard his heartbreaking story and chose to give him a second shot at life.
Things Do Get Better
When Natalie realized how little senior dogs with disabilities get adopted, she simply couldn’t stand the idea of this sweetheart dying alone in a shelter.
She drove to get him, and the rest is history!
Sadly, Papi was not blessed with an idyllic childhood. There were a lot of breaks in his legs that not being done right. So this meant that as they healed, they healed in a nasty way and therefore this cute little boy had problems that would haunt him for his entire life.
They only learned that Papi’s blindness was really because of his diet after she took him into the vets for an examination. With his calcium consumption, his eyes began to blur!
Papi made a wonderful recovery in general health. Was consuming a very nutritious diet and began going to therapy for his arthritis But I also wonder if this new found love for everything is also big player here too.

That was when Papi started wearing his adventure glasses, natural eye protectors to shield him from the branches and sand.
Papi adores his new life.
The Adventure Never Stops
He still was an outdoor-loving pup and went on many adventures with his new hoomans. He is an adventurist, and you name it he loves it; from climbing the highest mountains to swimming in the deepest of all seas.
Philip was so happy during the photo session and having his personality come out made Natalie gushed.
I honestly wish he had been mine since a puppy, but it means he probably would have had some sort of better life. But I hope that when he gets a little older he thought better of the years before,’ Natalie said, speaking to GeoBeats.
However Papi enjoys lazier days too. He even has his own spot on the couch where he curls up at night to dream of all the adventures that await him.
Fast forward three years and Papi is still spreading joy to Natalie and her family and friends.
He adores hoomans and instantly bonds to every person Natalie invites into her home. By the way, not one complaint was ever made against him. I mean, who doesn’t want to be reunited with dog on their lap… when you’re catching up with friends?!
It makes my day seeing an older pup get a second chance at life!
Thank you Natalie for not allowing this sweet boy to spend his final days in a kennel depressed.

You are, truly, the change in our world that we want to see.
Thank you!
