Maisy inspired me, and in a world where you can be anything, be kind!
This adorable Dark-Red Golden Retriever has melted the internet for the umpteenth time showing her sweetest (and best) side around her deaf brother, Levi. And, for good reason!
As a younger sister, she behaves just right when Levi is around.
While she has never been trained otherwise, there are 101 dos and don’ts when Levi is around. But her latest video of her waking up her brother, in the gentlest way possible, shocked everyone – even her pawrents!
Maisy Is His Forever Sister
The North Carolina military couple, Sierra and Joshua from Florida immediately loved Levi. Did I mention they welcomed his disability with open arms and gave that Australian Shepherd a home — a damn home from which he’d never known?
So, in exchange, Levi sprung onto the scene and brought SO MUCH FUN!
Harrison was naturally full of energy and wanted to play with everyone, so the couple thought he might need a buddy. Hence, Maisy arrived!
At seven months, Levi was already a big brother looking after his new Golden Retriever brother. However, as time passed, they started to switch roles!
Maisy became an incredible, sensitive dog who knew Levi so well. Kind of sounded like she just knew what to how do around Levi Keough felt as though he would be scared.
But the biggest shock of all came for Maisy and her owners one day while they were out walking. As soon as they entered the house, she went up to Levi straight away, who was actually asleep.
Instead of barking or jumping on him like they do during playtime, she cautiously approached him and gently bumped him with her paw.
To say the least, it threw Sierra and Josh off-guard as they had never in a million years seen Maisy doing something like this before. “Was this not intentional, or was she really aware that this the best way to wake up Levi” — some questions swirled in their minds.
However, this sweet ritual did not take long to be repeated by Maisy again and then again — and keep repeating. These days, she does it regularly, melting the hearts of thousands who follow their daily adventures on TikTok and Instagram.
A video shared in turn by Sierra and Josh showed “Maisy always waking her deaf brother Levi up to tell him we’re home 🙂”
Wrote one user, “I hope she never stops doing this for him.”
The Perfect Duo
Maisy brought home was this Florida couple’s best decision. Maisy is not only a sister to Levi, but the two are basically inseparable.
As for us, adding a buddy for our 7 month Deaf Aussie was the best decision we ever made. Breaking up is forever, they wrote.
Levi used to love nothing more than sitting by the window — patrolling his domain — before Maisy.
(Their favorite activity as a deaf dog is sitting in the window, watching over their home. Although he can not hear, it feels like the only way of watching over us that is so full of love,” read a text from an Instagram post by Levi’s guardians.
Maisy lives in the house now, so they do it together, or at least they do most things together.
They do everything, from playing together to exciting walkies, zoomies around the house, and even sleeping in roll-up sessions. The two are practically inseparable; to say they go together like peas in a pod would be an understatement.
But hopefully that will not be necessary for a long time!
