I think one of the toughest thing —if not THE toughest thing for most shelter workers, is caring for the dogs and watching their sorrowful eyes learn that adoption day did not equal home.
A lot of dogs have a hard time in shelters. While they are taken care of and loved, its not a forever solution, and every single one of them deserve their fairy-tale ending
Sadly some puppies simply miss out on this lucky fate and will remain with the rescue companies for much lengthier.
Not all the time, but it is sad that this happens. Franny is such a nice girl who was orphaned for so long before finding herself in the shelter and hoping she can join her forever home one day soon too!
As with other dogs, ‘when she thought she was going to meet her new family and find out they were not coming’ but her story was about to change for the better.
Franny Is So Happy
Franny has been in a shelter in Pennsylvania for four months already. She had a decent life there, but her rescuers always felt she was looking for something.
They take her on outings, and every single time they’d go out, she would become very sad. During that time, a shelter worker named Danielle Baughman would take her out frequently and observed Franny to resist returning.

They tell her that she is just being taken to meet a new family… its not true, so she becomes utterly miserable.
There was a time when one volunteer, named Lindsay, even brought her outside and I saw for myself how miserable she appeared every time they returned.
Lindsay thought this poor girl belonged out in the world, so she went back to the shelter and brought Franny home for a sleepover. Delighted to have her home for a while.
At that moment, Lindsay realized she wanted to adopt her. The very next day they spent the time together with them for a while.
The two also traveled to the Pennsylvania shelter, and Franny felt sad thinking she was being returned, but had no idea a surprise awaited her.
The papers signed and this sweet dog was finally Lindsay’s. When she discovered she was headed to her forever home, she could hardly contain her joy.
A Wholesome Reaction
Danielle for instances like this are truly treasured moments and always glad to see a lovey dog get his forever home.
And more than just this feeling, she wants to be able to bring attention to other dogs in the same situation so she tries her hardest to capture these beautiful moments like with Franny.
Well, it can be said that TikTok created some buzz where a number of people discussed the whole episode.
Another said: “I hope people take on the senior dogs and cats that accumulate in shelters after their owners die. Not only do they lose their half, they also lose their home. They do not know where to go, they do not know what can happen to them and they are terrified. Thank you for also your great love heart of what Animals do.”
That’s the kind of sentiment I can certainly vibe with. Older doesn’t mean that a dog cannot love as well as any other pup. They just need an opportunity to prove it.
A second wrote: “I had my girl Lena for 2 days and I had to bring her back to the shelter so that I could sign her papers also. When we arrived she was very upset and so it turns out was when I brought her home. Still is!”
Glad to hear Franny is not the only one on her journey. It was nice to see there were more people out there getting dogs like her into homes.
And another wrote: “Oh she was so miserable when they brought her back. And so happy to leave.”
Give or take a few million dollars, the only thing Franny ever wanted was able to experience that normalcy of life with someone before, and now she finally got her opportunity.
I’m so happy her story has a satisfactory ending and hopefully it gets more people to give pups like these a try because they deserve it.
