To be so sadistic to make themselves feel entitled to take away a dogs-jointly and only, hope of becoming part of a family who cares about them!
With almost no opportunity to feel the comforting hand of a human in their fur, most pups become sad and miserable.
Sandy is one of the dogs whose heart had surely been broken when her person dumped her on the behind the bushes on a lonely country road.
The pitiful creature was lying by the road in tall grass, emaciated, devoid of the will to continue, losing all faith in mankind.
It was a moment where she almost gave up, but her savior found her and gave her hope for a tomorrow.
An Incredibly Sad Sight
One dark night David was driving on a desolate road when he saw a heart-wrenching sight. It had a pup abandoned on the road.
He parked his motorbike and ran to her rescue. The poor pup just looked sad and heartbroken. She was all skin and bones.
David was horrified at how badly she was doing, and he cried as well.
He spoke to her, and the pup, who would be called Sandy, came to her feet and began to wag the tail. The pooch was promised by David that she will be fine.
He fed her. David had taken Sandy on his motorbike but could not travel with her to the vet, so they waited on the side of the road.
An hour later, a passerby approached her and offered Sandy a ride to the vet.
Sandy was taken to the vet clinic, where David’s partner, Valentina, accompanied him. That was both was by Sandy’s side, supporting her.
Sandy still could and #39;t believe that she did get love and affection.
The puppy underwent a complete medical examination.
Sandy was dehydrated (obviously) and unspeakably underweight, had a high fever, and the wounds and abrasions all over his body were more than just superficial. According to the vet, Sandy was probably dumped after no longer being used for breeding.
Sandy’s Road To Recovery
David and Valentina brought her home. Made The Decision To Heal Her
The couple feared they would lose her, so they kept an eye on her.
“It was horrible and we didn’t sleep. Valentina told We Love Animals that we were extremely afraid that we would open our eyes and that she would be no longer there.
Sandy was thankful for the love and care the family gave her. It was her way of coping and using it as motivation to heal.
Which is when David and Valentina were wowed by Sandy’s fighting spirit to survive.
Following a series of tests, the adorably furry pooch was given a devastating diagnosis of Leishmaniasis — a disease that impacts skin, weight and organs.
The vet recommended they put her down, as it was going to be an expensive round of treatment, and there was no assurance that treatment would be of benefit to her.
The family immediately said no to having Sandy put to sleep — that had never been an option. They poured their efforts into taking care of her, wishing for her complete recovery.
This was the bit that Valentina was sure had never happened to Sandy.
Both she and David snuggled her and gave her love. That was when Sandy entered the family. It was the first time the pup felt safe, the first time she was never reminded how much she was unwanted.
Living Her Best Life
Then they adopted an adorable puppy two months after Sandy was safe and brought him home.
That changed everything for Sandy. Instantly, she became best friends with the fur baby. They were extremely snugly, and would spend a ton of time together playing. They became inseparable.
Joy in Sandy’s eyes filled up! Her eating habits improved and her parents loved seeing her do well.
The warmth affection that Sandy received from her parents and the small puppy was able to provide her with the strength to beat every obstacle in her way.
Sandy lived life to the fullest.
We always said love can move mountains. David said, “We look at her today and you can never believe what she went through.
Sandy’s parents are sure that the dog was destined to pass their way. They are grateful that she loves them unconditionally.
