“Lost Dog Brings Himself To The Police At 3 AM Because He Couldn’t Find His Way Home” sounds like one of those headlines used in click-baits all over the internet.
However, this is an actual story, and it has recently happened to a lovely pup named Chico.
The thing is, while some culprits choose to deny their crimes, they all visit police stations. That being said, our crafty dog from Odessa was very inventive – he turned himself in. His crime was being too cute!
Chico is a Shepsky, a mix of a German Shepherd and a Husky. At only a year old, this dog still has a heart of a puppy.
The pup’s owner, Edward Alvarado, wanted to make a supreme guard dog out of him with the help of his German Shepherd half. However, his plans were foiled by the dog’s weird and overly communicative Husky half.
That’s why the pup didn’t feel particularly worried by the breach of the law.
He was merely too playful and affectionate to do his job – to serve and protect. When you add the dog’s innate curiosity, you get the embodiment of a creature that cannot be left bored. Therefore, Chico went for a walk one night without telling his dad.
So, it was 3 AM when Chico stopped trotting and walked into the Odessa Police Department, which was a mile away from his home.
Being as casual as Shepskies can be, Chico entered, placed his front paws on the lobby’s counter, as if he wanted to report about something. The officers immediately understood that something extraordinary was happening.
Nobody could speak “dog,” so everyone assumed that the poor thing was looking for some help. However, this wasn’t the case – if Chico was asking for something, it was a good time!
The Shepskie got what he wanted when the officers started to play with him. Later, photographs of the bizarre entrance were posted in the hope that his family will notice this sad story.
In addition, Chico had a collar on, but the tags were gone, even though they looked like they were on the break recently. The only solution was to call Animal Control to come scan for the microchip.
Afraid that the officers will take him to a shelter, Chico did what had to be done. He ran away, and all the officers could do was watch the dog get more lost.
But thankfully, this story has a happy ending. Chico wasn’t lost anymore. He actually got back to his owner’s home. And he knew how to get there all along!
During that time, Oregel woke up and saw Chico in the bed where he should have been. There wasn’t a scratch on him, and he looked like he has not been running through alleys chasing his nightlife.
The owner was so surprised and had no idea his pup was that silly. Then his cousin showed Oregel the photos of Chico he found online. The owner was shocked! He couldn’t believe his eyes!
After that, Oregel called the police to tell them that the dog is safe and sound at Chico’s home. They got the message, and everyone was relieved.
Then the officers added to their post that Chico is welcome to visit whenever he wants.
Just imagine, the whole tragic thing might have happened, but Chico was so smart not to let that happen. Oregel is thrilled to have such a smart dog and is glad that now he knows how to act if he ever manages to lose him again.
However, he will try to do everything under his control to prevent Chico from doing that. We are sure we see the last of Chico, the Night Rider.
I think Chico, the Night Rider, will pay the kind police officers another visit soon!
